Hi, new here. I never had any fish as pets but I am very interested in getting some soon. I am really intrested in Heart Shaped Parrotfish and my first common goldfish. I have been researching on the web and will not buy one until I am educated on fish care.
So being that said, would it be wise to get the goldfish before the parrotfish? Plus, if I did get a parrotfish, what other fish are suitable tank mates?
If your a beginner fish owner I wouldn't try the parrotfish just yet, if I were you. But a easy to care for, yet beautiful fish is the Bata fish. Otherwise known as a "Chinese fighting fish". I wouldn't recommend that you put this fish in a tank with another fish. It most likely would end in fighting. You should do some research about it. You can buy one at wal-mart if you want. I've had mine for 4 years now. As for goldfish.....i don't know. If you have any further questions about batas then feel free to ask me*
Ya-I agree with Germanshepherdluver, the bata fish is probaly a good fish for someone who is a beginner and who is (obviously) intrested in exotic looking fish.
First off, its betta fish. And it's a siamese fighting fish. Not chinese. Secondly, my cousing had one in a tank with another fish. It did fine. So i think as long as you don't put it with another male betta, you'll be fine.
Now, as for the parrot fish, I personally love them. This beautiful and interesting fish is a hybrid between a Gold Severum and Red Devil. They are mild mannered and do well in tank with fish of similar size such as Silver Dollars, Severum Cichlids, Sharks and Tin Foil Barbs. DIET: Like most Cichlids they will accept a variety of foods such as Cichlid pellets, Cichlid flakes, frozen foods and krill. Feed young fish 2-3 times daily. Adults can be fed 1-2 times a day. Hope that helped. And good luck on the search! ~Alli
i have two heart shaped parrot fish. they are great pets. they prefer warm water about 80 to 85 degrees farenheit. their water (fresh not salt)should have a ph of 7. they will eat just about anything (feed them 1 to 2 times per day). they do tend to beg for food youll know what im talking about when You get them. they are either verz docile or very agressive watch them and figure out which before you buy one. they like caves to hide in . i reccomend you pair them with eachother or with angelfish. i do not reccomend you buy them at walmart becase walmart dies them colors amputates their tales an sometimes ties rubberbands around their heads to shape them like hearts. they are a mutated hybrid so walmart feels it is better to create their own. however lots of other fish dealers do the same so make sure yours is legitamate.do not keep them by themselves they get lonely. if yours do breed keep the male in a separate tank if not he will eat the eggs which take only five days to hatch.
