I have a huge problem with my crown tailed betta's bowl. he's happy as a clam and he has a friend named Tokyo. (Of course I didn't put them in the same tank. They're bowls are just next to each other!) Any ways in the tank is, glass pebbles, a cloth plant, and a few seashells. I just put the plant in yesterday so I don't think it is that. But anyways, I clean it every week, Throughtout the week yucky brown glue acumulates at the top, and it even has bubbles! It gives my fish a hard time to come to the surface, and the food stays on it so he's starving! I Made it so he can get his food but I'm worried. Sadly my first betta , Beghtoven, died a tradgic death becasue of the horrid brown goo. I need to know before it's too late, how can i fix this?
you need to get a filtered tank. they have one gallon tanks for a pretty cheap price. this will keep the water flowing so that dust and grime and bacteria dont accumulate along the surface, also it keeps your tank much cleaner and doesnt allow the water to go stagnant. in this setup you should only have to change about 3 cups of water a week for maintenance instead of changing the whole bowl. it will be much healthier for your fish in the long run.
