I got a goldfish and I got a 2.5 gallon tank for him. He was a little Comet goldfish. I got him from Petsmart because the ones from Petco looked sick and dying. well anyway, I put him in his new home (I left the water to sit for 2 days before I put him in) and I fed him once or twice a day and one day I came home, and he looked sick. He had some white fuzz on his body and around his gills. I saw a piece of food at the bottom that he forgot to eat and that looked the same way. Two hours later he died. What happened? Can a fish die in 2 hours from a fungal infection? He looked fine the day before. Help!

Your fish was most likely sick from the pet store. Always look for fish with high raised fins. Also ther is treatments available for fungus diseases.
