A friend of mine told me that you're not supposed to put anything plastic in with a Betta. She doesn't know why though, but she read it on a fish webpage (the webpage didn't say why either). I keep a plastic plant in my Betta's bowl. Could this end up harming my fish somehow?
i dont think a plastic plant will hurt it i read that real plants can harm bettas because of the chemicals that you have to put in with the fish to help the plant grow(in a fish bowl, not in a filted tank) thats all i know though so sorry
i had five betas but only two for the past two years and i had plants in both vase's and it never hurt nor bothered them, they actually lived a few months longer than two years, but they were totally fine, but i did make sure i washed the fake plant real good before i put itin the vase's
Some bettas can get their fins snagged on plastic plants - if the plastic is fairly rigid, it can cause damage to the fish if that happens. This would probably happen more often in a smaller container than a larger one. Other than that, I don't recall any reasons why bettas and plastic plants wouldn't "mix".
