I've had Bella, my male Betta, for over 2 years. He seemed fine a couple months ago, but now he is always in a vertical position (he also swims kinda funny, like he has a limp), he doesn't seem to be able to get his food (his misses and then gives up), and there's some white stuff floating at the top of the bowl (I've changed the water to get rid of the white stuff, but I think there's more now). What could be wrong with him?

Note: I did move him from one spot to another a while ago. He was exposed to a mirror for a little bit (so he may have hurt himself).

Is he "getting old"?

Thanks,
liusy

yes he is getting old if i remember correctly betta's only hasve a 2 -3 year life span.

and yes he may have hurt him self but unlikely mirror's are a good stimulant for male betta's due to their agressave nature.

as for the white stuff i am not sure never seen that one my self but i may have some ideas 1 have you changed his food??? do you move him from a bright area to a shady one? did the climate change in your house. remembers betta come from the rice fields of china so are used to weedy areas

i know its not much but i hope it helps
