My Betta fish, Dishrag (named for his appearance) has a dreadful lesion on his side that is growing bigger. I've even seen it bleed into the water. I hope this picture worked so you can help us! He also has a brownish fungus on him. We've had him for over a year and he's really grown on me. He's in about a gallon bowl and we change the water weekly. I've recently put a lamp over his water to warm it. His color improved a little. Any advice would be great! Thank you!

You need to treat the fungus if that is the case. I hope that you are only doing partial water changes, and not all the water changes. This can cause a lot of stress on the fish and speed the process of him being sick and dying. A bit of aquarium salt would also help.

Good luck with your fish.

Try keeping a constant temperature with him, don't let him get too hot under the lamp.
