Hi, I just recently bought some fish, because I was so bored.

I used to have a 55 gallon, but all my fish died, and the water was always green.

Anyways, I have an old 10 gallon tank and I recently added these types of fish
1 Gold Gourami
1 Blue Gourami
1 Tequilla Male Guppy
1 yellow male guppy
2 neon tetras
2 red female guppies
1 rainbow shark
3 small orange platties
1 spotted catfish

Recently added
2 male and Female Golddust Mollies
4 Neon Tetras
3 Cherry Barbs 2 female, and 1 male

They are all very small, and I do plan on getting a bigger tank. I will be upgrading to a 55-75 gallon very soon, but in the meantime, will my fish be okay? I dont have any non-community fish that are mean do I? Can you tell me what to watch out for?

I know there are a lot of fish but hopefully this week I am getting the big tank, but for now my fish will be okay, right?

Since you got male and female guppies I would keep them in seperate tanks because they breed super quick and never stop. hopefully sullybaby could tell you some more.

Okay, but the rainbow shark, and gouramis wont hurt the other fish? They are all small.

I read up and this is what it says to do:
~house one gourami per tank
~house male and female guppies seperately unless you want TONS of babies
other than that just keep your eye on them to make sure they all get along and if they dont, put the bad fish in other tanks seperately.
good luck!

okay, thanks.

I cant really get rid of my gourami, and they both are small, so I will just keep an eye on them. Thank you so much for helping. Smile

if you added all your fish at once, you may encounter some problems. some fish may suddenly die due to overproduction of ammonia and other toxic chemicals produced by the fish. change 1 gal of the water everday until you get your new tank.

when you get your new tank, set it up with the filter and everything, then add 2 fish per week until all the fish are in your new tank. this will cycle your tank correctly and prevent algae growth and fish disease when the fish are slowly added allowing the good bacteria to grow correctly. the gourami's should be okay together in a 55 gal, but in the 10 they are likely to fight. your tank is overly overcrowded... i would set up your new tank ASAP to prevent any death or illnesses. im almost certain at least one of your fish will die if your new tank isnt set up almost immediatly. most likely the guppies. i would add some aquarium salt in the mean time, this along with water changes should make the occurance of death less likely.

as for the algae growth, if it is free floating algae (cloudy green water) a product called Algae Destroyer works wonders, i use it often. also, the more live plants you have, they less aglae will grow. just be sure to have the proper lighting and aquarium fertilizer as well.

good luck.
