We started with only six fish and eventually added four more, but now we have babies constantly and many survive being eaten by the other fish! Including the babies we have more than 20 in our tank. I don't want to "dispose" of any, I don't have the heart to do that. Will that many in our tank be ok?
The general rule of thumb is one, one inch fish per gallon of water.
If most of them are babies, don't worry, only the strongest will survive into adulthood. If they are already getting eaten by the other fish, many will not live to be full grown. Don't add anymore fish to you tank until they are grown.
hi, i'm sorry, it's a nice calculation generally but the type of the fish also matters in regarding to how much swim room it needs. you have to figure out what type of fish you have and what its specific needs are. I'm part of this board and there's a ton of people who really know what they're talking about regarding this, maybe they can help you.. but you need to know the exact names of your fish.
also, regarding the fish eating each other, you have to know which fish to mix with which other fish and not just throw a whole bunch of fish in a tank like a soup.
