Betta males make bubbles as a 'nest'. The bigger the nest, the more attractive to the female, as she will lay her eggs in the bubbles. Even a lone male will make bubble nests from time to time, and they are completely harmless.

My Betta does that too. I think it's just their oxygen. I don't really know why the bubbles are there, but my fish has been okay with it.

It's totally normal. It's called a bubblenest and all healthy male bettas make it. It's just a sign they are ready to breed. They use it when breeding as a place to put the eggs to hatch. The baby fish live in there for a while and then become free swimming. The betta will go to the top of the tank, suck in some water with his labyrinth (an organ in his head that allows him to breathe air), coats the air bubble in a sticky saliva, then spits it out to make his nest. The bigger the nest, the more attractive he is to the females. They are very protective of their nests. It's very good to see that your betta is making one! It shows that he is very healthy and is being taken care of very well. congrats! Smile
