well my 2 fish that i had in a tank both died this week...very upsetting...i was thinking about getting another fish to put in the tank. I have a 2.5 tank and was thinking about getting maybe a small fancy goldfish or another betta. I dont want another disaster, i would like to do fishless cycling. Does anyone know how to do it? ive heard that biospira works...does anyone know of something cheaper?? ive seen bacteria at petco...would that be the same as biospira???
You can do fishless cycling without buying any bacteria from the store. Just set up your tank and let it run for a few days. However if you want to take the extra percaution, "Cycle" is a good product and not very expensive. You can get it from almost any petstore.
Try fishlesscycling.com, origional name, I know, but it's very helpful. I am currently cycling a tank for my guppies to breed in. Right now I have gravel from my current tank, water from my current tank, a nice filter and a heater. All the equiptment is up and running. I just bought a water test kit today and everything is going fine. Just get the tank up and exactly how you want it to be just without the fish. Then wait about a week. The water should be clean. The filter also might make the water cloudy for a while after putting it in but it will clear up. After the water is okay, the fish can go in!
