Did anyone else catch that it was Logan/Einstein who came to the aid of babyAxel? The mid-back right-thigh dye markings were clear to me. They mentioned him by name when he was lounging around in the sand being lazy, but when he had his heroic moment, of course he magically became "Mitch." But Loganstein deserves recognition for being a hero. He rocks!
Yes, Kitty!! I caught it. I just posted on another thread about it. I hope Youssy will come and confirm it, he has great eyss for markings
LOL.... there ya go wait for the 11 year old to confirm it then it HAS to be true right??? Sarcasm asside... markings were there and can be seen when you slo mo it. Grats to Logan!!
WOW! i havent heard of logan or einstien since they were pups!!! remember when they were playing hide and go seek in that tin watering hole thing??? they were adorable!!!
Hey, Dundain, my eyes aren't what they used to. I'm going blind squinting in front of the tube every time they say Mitch to figure out who in truth he (or she sometimes) it really is. Youssy has 11 year old eyes, I thoroughly respect that!!!!!!!!
I suppose this is a little off-topic, but I was happy to see Spud babysitting with Sophie at the beginning of the episode. Mozart's and Tosca's kats have a special place in my heart. Loganstein is probably my favorite Flower-born male kat.
i also noticed that the meerkat taht picked up axel had a skinnner and longer neck than mitch does, the markings were a tad different to me too. but i have 12 year old eyes...hehehe
Einstein, another of Zaphod's sons, is seen trying and failing to open a tortoise egg. He also tried to steal some plover's eggs from their nest when the birds were focusing on the rest of the Whiskers, but was unsuccessful. He is from the same litter as Mitch, Rocky, and Cruise. I love Einstein he was always fun to watch and now he does it again by getting buried in the sand lol... Did you notice when Mitch dropped Axle at Flowers feet she picked him up and then spit him out she new that wasn't a whisker pup. tee hee
Then we don't know who it is. The only one with a tail marking and left thigh is Busta, but he's too small back in Feb to play Mitch. It must be one of the girls, then.
No, wait, some boys are missing from that list. On the list are Mitch, Logan, Zara, Jogu, Bings, Busta, and these don't match the markings. Could be one of the others
Hmmm...I could've sworn he had a mid-back marking...my 28-year-old eyes are still pretty good. Oh well, if I'm wrong, I'm wrong...but Loganstein would be an awesome name for a new brand of beer.
Kittyglitter, you are right. I just went back and viewed the video and paused it several times. There are 2 mitches. The one who first found Axel was really Mitch! He has a Mid Back and a Left thigh mark.
There is a second Mitch and i don't know who this one is. This is the one who carried Axel and brought him to Flower. This one didn't have a left thigh mark.
I noticed another maybe significant thing in the video. Towards the begining (before Axel comes in the picture) the Whiskers are sunning themselves. There's a little guy, maybe 3 month old (guessing the age at 2-3 months), trying to nurse off of Flower (If that was really Flower, I didn't see her marks only her collar). And again later on when they were mobbing the cobra, the little 3 month old guy was there with them. It was clearly not Axel as Axel is much smaller than this little guy. Who could this little one be?
I saw the little one trying to nurse from Flower, also, and thought it was odd because Flower had just given birth to a new litter. I didn't think she would be nursing an older pup when she had new ones she had to feed.
I'm giving up trying to make sense out of all this.
I personally take these dye marks with a grain of salt. In last nights Live Chat the EP said they had to re-dye the meercats frequently and it's possible since some of them look so much alike they are marking them incorrectly or even on purpose to satisfy the viewer. Anything is possible given the conditions the researchers and volunteers are living in as well as the meercats.
Personally I think that they should have another ID system in place instead of using dye. Anyone that uses permanet hair dye knows that it isn't and it can last as little as a month and as long as 3 months depending on hair growth, washings, hair falling out, etc.
