You're right, it's out of date for anyone who watched S3. It would be fine with me if it's deleted. They *may plan to replace it with a new statement before S4, but maybe not. The death of Flower required advanced notice, but hopefully S4 will not have a comparable disaster. So far, so good!
I'm in favor of leaving it there. Like Melba said it's part of this burrow's history. I can still remember the shock I felt when I first saw it posted that day. It's what propelled me from being a lurker to a joiner of this burrow.
Just in case it does get deleted, those of you who might want it, should copy and paste it to a word document and save it on your computer. It is a part of our history on here. I remember when I first read it. It was such a shock!
It's interesting to read how important the Producer's Statement was to many of you. I can just imagine the chaos in this forum afterward!
I usually stay away from spoilers, so I had NO idea what would happen in Journey's End. They tried to warned us, but there are so many other disasters that can happen in their harsh environment, and life without Flower was unthinkable. So for me, seeing her poor swollen head while hearing Sean's words is seared into my memory. I was so upset I immediately went online to find out more information, and that brought me (and probably hundreds of others) here to these forums -- a blessing that has enriched my life. Very soon I started hanging out on the spoiler board. No more devastating surprises like that for me!!!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I'm going to read the producer's statement again and imagine how shocked I would have felt. I wonder how you all felt when Journey's End finally aired? That would have taken courage. Have a great weekend, everyone
I never read the Producer's statement until now because I wanted to see what this was all about. Sometimes I get too cynical about those on the "top" and thought just assumed (you know that joke about "assumed" the producer was talking down to the posters. I'm really sorry I didn't because that wasn't the case.
I think it should definitely stay. The entire series (what little of it they show us) began with Flower and her Whiskers and this is history. Nothing that transpired would have been possible without Flower and her Whiskers. Things may have taken turns for the worse, but the bloodline lives through Flower's offspring. Just my opinion.
I know I don't post much here, but I come here every day to read and I'm in favor of the post staying. I personally had no clue about this board until after I watched MM's Journey's End. I was in total shock believe me I cried for 2 hours after the show ended. Had I known about this board ahead of time the shock wouldn't have been so bad. It comforts me to know that the crew was willing to prepare everyone for the shocking story, so yes I say let it stay, it only shows there love for us the FANS.
There will always be new people who may or may not know of Flower's death and probably will not have read the statement. It's not hurting anything to stay.
If I remember correctly I was the first to read the statement and immediately posted on a thread that was set up: why did you tell us? Take it down...
Shocked and devastated by what I read, but now I believe it should remain forever as the defining point or transition of Meerkat Manor from one generation to another. The tragic path of Season 3 took us on this heartbreaking journey.
The hope for the future now lies with Seasons 4 & 5. Let us pray to all the meerkat spirits for only the best to happen for our beloved scurries.
