I'm glad that Zaphod is with the Aztecs, because that makes me feel more secure that they'll make it.

But I don't think Zaph and Maybelline can be a mating pair. I think another change is going to occur. But, who knows....

The father of Maybeline/Monkulus is Yossarian.

I didn't finish my trail of thought. This is speculation on my part based on the facts posted by KMP. It looks like Homestar Runner had become Monkulus's mate. Zaphod came and chased him away, just like he has been doing to Rocket Dog's potential mates. So, he (and many other Whiskers) are looking at the Aztec as a splinter and still part of the family. So, for Zaphod, he is DM of the Aztec the same as he is DM of the Whiskers. He will be DM of the Whiskers again when he returns, and for now one of his sons is acting DM in his absence (Machu Pichu).

Again the above is my speculation. We'll see if he continues to rove or if he settles with the Aztec or goes back to the Whiskers. And some of the Whiskers males are with him, so the Aztec may be a bit safer now.

And I do hope that they continue to keep the radio collar on Zaphod

I agree with you Sunshine, that's been my feelings too. Somehow I don't think they realize are separate mobs now, silly kats.

Poor Maybeline/Monkulus with Zaphod around she's going to have a hard time finding a mate now, but as you said they're safer now so that's a relief. I hope Banana can rejoin them again. After all the hard times she endured as being part of a new mob with only 3 adult females and 4 pups for so many months she certainly deserves to finally have security like Maybeline/Monkulus has. I wonder why she was evicted. Maybeline/Monkulus wasn't pregnant, so why did the 2 females get evicted? That's horrible. hopefully the eviction won't be permanent for them.

Hello, Lady. I think Monkulus is pregnant. They have not recorded her as pregnant because she doesn't show signs of pregnancy yet. But she had Homestar Runner as mate for awhile, and her behavior of evicting her half sisters is strong indication that she's pregnant. I too am preying that Bananas is accepted back. With both Rocket Dog and Monkulus pregnant it's going to be tough on the other females. But at least this is a good indication that the dominants' litters may survive. May Bananas stay safe. She is Athena.

Ahhhhhhh.. I didn't know she was Athena, wow, thanks for the information. As for explanation regarding the evictions that's hopefully the reason. Well then, let's hope she has lots of pups, and the other females can rejoin too. She'll need the help.

I felt bad when Homestar runner left, I was really hoping he'd remain the DM. Zaphod is great but he's her uncle, and as we all know he's very territorial about letting other males from other mobs get too close to his females of his mob. If Monkulus isn't expecting, her chances of increasing her mob will be slim (unless of course he doesn't let the whole uncle\ niece thing get in his way, ewww). I wonder, if they can tell they are related? She's been away from the Whiskers for many months now, surely she lost the Whisker's scent by now. Do you think he might regard her just as a non related female because she doesn't smell like the Whiskers and she's free to mate with?

Of course if he does still regard the Aztecs as still his old mob as we thought , this idea goes right out the window.

I get the feeling that Monkulus and RD will be able to have visits from rovers, especially if Sunshine's theory about Zaphod thinking both groups are still attached is true. Zaph will have to go between groups, and that is when a rover can visit.

Yeah, I wasn't sure that Zaphod and Monkulus could mate even though Yossarian is her father.

It would be nice to see Zaphod get a chance to be a mating DM again, but it's probably best if he stays around his family.

Yeah, it will be very interesting to see how it develops with Zaph going back and forth Aztec and Whiskers protecting his nieces, or will he mate with Monkulus (don't think so). In any case, we Know RD is already pregnant, and I'm willing to bet Monkulus is pregnant with Homestar Runner's pups (love his name btw). I'm sure he'll be coming back the moment Zaph looks elsewhere.

Zara can hold his own, I have no doubt about that. His biggest threads coming in twins from the inside, so to speak, his younger brothers Miles and Baker (who are Attila and Achiles). He's got to watch from that Attila kat, I think - I mean Baker. According to Aida who returned from the KMP recently, that kitty kat Baker is one to watch, as is Pozzo, Zara's littermate, who is still with the Whiskers but visiting the Commandos roving

I agree, Zar(a) could have a lot of competition from within. I remember reading about Baker and Pozzo in Aida's posts. But, on the other hand, he'll have good back-up if Ketamine tries to return.

Interesting analysis as usual, sunshine! I agree -- it looks like many Whiskers are treating the Aztecs as still part of the family. I'm relieved to see the additional support for Maybelline's group. I was getting very worried for them. Zaphod is a GREAT ally for any group. And RD's smaller (though still mighty!) group should be more manageable.

It looks like there are male rovers all over the place, which is good until they find "The One." Go, RD & Maybelline! Pleeeeease let their litters survive. That goes for all the mobs.

I wonder what's behind the turmoil in the other groups. I can't imagine how mother nature (Pronker's hint) is the cause. In any case, I'm rooting for all of our beloved meerkats!

Ccatz, yeah on the rain. Like others I am worried about the group interplay and the tb, but maybe ZTM is right and the group mixing will help all the kats develop a stronger resistance to the tb. I like Sushine's theory that Zaphod's just keeping an eye on both of Flower's daughters and I am happy that the Aztec's numbers are up with his help. I really loved watching how different Rocket Dog and Maybelline were as leaders and I want them both to do well. I like Zara as DM for the Commandos. Whatever his fate turns out to be, so far Youssy has fathered the next generation of leader kats...

Indeed dear friends, our most beloved Yossarian has fathered the next generation of leaders. MM did not fool me at all about him even before we knew all this history. He always looked like a leader to me. Anyway, let's see, first it was Super Furry Animal (Daisy)of the Whiskers, then Kinkaju of the Starsky, then Rocket Dog of the Whiskers, Monkulus of the Aztec, Zarathustra of the Whiskers and Commandos, and also let's watch out for Pozzo coming on strong.

But I think Zaph fathered some strong leaders, they're just a little bit younger. Baker and Miles (Attila and Achiles)are my top picks, then Logan (Einstein, Mitch's brother)- and let's hope noone else gets run over by cars. From the girls I was watching for Hawkeye and Cruise, but with Rocket Dog taking over as DF, I just don't know anymore

Sunshine, you're right, it may be that Youssy's greatest feat was his timing since the '03 breeding season is turning out to be an important one so far. Sweetest Mozart is really the only one of Zaphod's daughters with a chance that did not become DF and we don't really know the whole story yet, although my best guess is that Pronker's assessment is the right one, she led by doing what needed to be done and not by dominating.

I don't mind the fact that the tv show is just that. A tv show. But, how do I find out the truth from the beginning so I won't feel so confused when I read about the meerkats I have learned to love? Somebody HELP me. Does the book tell about their life from the beginning? Can I get the book in the USA?

I think you still need to order the book from Amazon UK. It has much of the life history of the Whiskers and you'll learn about Yossarian, Zaphod and their Vivian brothers who immigrated into the Whiskers, and about Flower's life. The new events, we just dig from recent eyewitness reports and from the KMP's website.

I thought that Zaphod was a part of the Whiskers. Who is the new DM of the Whiskers then? I can not wait for the Meerkat Manor Movie to come out next year. When does season 4 start?
