We, the members of a dedicated meerkat loving group created a petition that was posted on Care2, an international petition site that reaches many people. The petition is addressed at network executives, and its purpose is to generate as many signatures by viewers, and lovers of Meerkat Manor, and meerkats in general in order to convince them to start filming the program again. Thank you for your help. Please inform friends, and family about the petition, and the link to it. This is a link to the petition site:
The petition was generated by a Facebook meerkat group, and was linked to a member's MySpace page, as well. There is an ad on Facebook too, etc. It would be great if anybody could promote the petition link via any other avenue.
Personal information does not appear on the petition, only name, state in the US, and country. The name doesn't have to be displayed either, if one wishes.
We are sending emails/letters to electronic, and traditional media (including tv networks) in order to inform them about the petition, and most importantly about MM's cancellation. Entertainment/television departments are a good choice. Not only in the US, but everywhere that MM aired. Even local media. Anybody could do this, but specifically email AP/Discovery executives to request that MM resumes filming.
Personal information does not appear on the petition, only name, state in the US, and country anywhere else. The name doesn't have to be displayed either, if one wishes. Care2 is a well known, highly respected, safe international petition site. It was chosen because it reaches many people.
We had our first news story (that we know of) in the Orlando Sentinel (Florida) which is one of the bigger national newspapers in the US. It was an article in their e-edition (at least) about MM, and our petition. KeschaKeiko (Darci), one of the members of our group send an e-mail.
Oct 4, 2009 ... September Mailbag: Is Dave Haywood Going Solo? ... Ken No, but he will be featured on the upcoming season of Meerkat Manor. ...
Dave’s involvement with Meerkat manor will be two fold. First he will be composing a new theme song with 60’s pop music sensibilities, and second they will try to place him as the new “alpha male” of the meerkat community. Unfortunately in trying to make the underground den big enough to accommodate Dave an unexpected cave-in killed most of the colony…
Here is a Meerkat Manor story I placed on CNN website. Some really nice person told me about this, so I put this one on. Anyone can do it.....go for it!
I think the Dave Haywood thing is a joke, last I heard KMP hadn't heard about any new filming plans, and they would have to be the first to know. If KMP knew it would not be long before FKMP knew, and I don't see why they wouldn't pass the info along...
CCatz, really - that is too funny! It's like saying Hugh Grant could play Carlos!
Vwf053 is correct in saying that it was said recently that there are no plans for a future series and also no plans of filming.
Zettak, that's really great news that the petition has reached the media publication! Perhaps those run-of-the-mill viewers I mentioned may get a little more interested!
cant someone like a mod or admin do a mass email to all the members? i looked down the bottom of the meerkat manor forum and it says Registered Members: 1143878. We would have that petition filled with signatures in no time even if 1/5th of them signed lol.
i just noticed that, that number of members is for all of discovery's forums

cCatz, you can be sooooooo mysterious, it's tantalizing! Reminds me of England's and France's monarchy history - nothing is ever as it seems! Do you know more? Where can I reach you? Oh, please, please, say you do ... ... hoping and wishing and praying (Dusty Springfield). m.j.
We have another news story. The Ft. Lauderdale SunSentinel posted my e-mail about the petition. There is a problem with the link, but I added a reply with the link (until the other is fixed). The link to the Sun Sentinal is:
