A few days ago I sent an e-mail to The Independent, one of the big, serious newspapers in the U.K. They had a huge article today (Kool for kats) about the popularity of meerkats, mentioning Meerkat Manor as well. I posted a comment there. Please do the same. The link is:

The article in the British newspaper The Independent appeared in the printed, and electronic versions. The New York Times would be the equivalent of a publication in this country.

Is this something we should keep our eyes on?...our hopes???? After all Mike Wild, formerly of OSF was one of the creators of Meerkat Manor. He is now with Nat Geo....

Now all we need now is the money, about 1.5 M I am told, and "a for sure deal"

Well we can dream...

From various media sources...

"Fox confirms Nat Geo spin-off.

LA-based Fox Reality Channel will be replaced by a Washington DC-based spin-off of the National Geographic Channel.

Fox Cable Networks said this week that Fox Reality would be wound down by March 31, and C21 reported yesterday that its replacement would be an East Coast channel.

The new network was thought to be a branded entertainment channel, but Fox Cable Networks and National Geographic Channel have confirmed that the advertiser-friendly replacement service will focus on natural history and wildlife.

New service Nat Geo Wild, a joint venture between Fox Cable Networks and National Geographic Ventures, will concentrate on programmes about animals in the wild.

It is an extension of a network that has already found success internationally, with outlets in about 50 countries, including England, France and Germany.

Nat Geo Wild is the fastest growing channel of the National Geographic portfolio networks, with launches in France, Germany, Australia and Latin America in the past year.

National Geographic is dedicated to inspiring people to care about the planet by presenting the most compelling and visually dynamic science, exploration and history across all our media platforms,” said Fahey. “Wildlife programming is core to our brand and with the urgent conservation challenges facing wildlife, this is the right time for us to focus on what is a favorite genre for many.”

Nat Geo Wild will dedicate its platform solely to wildlife programming with a mix of series and blue chip specials. Nat Geo Wild’s schedule is still being finalized, but premiere programs such as

“Africa’s Lost Eden” – captures the largest relocation effort ever attempted of hundreds of zebra, wildebeest, impala, buffalo and
hippos."

I was just at the Lead the Meerkats Facebook pages and I saw that they have 4,100 fans. Its a meerkat game, they must like meerkats. We just have to put a message up, telling about the Petition and hopefully we will reach our goal soon.

Hi, Everyone. I just sent a link and info re our petition site to the ColumbiaSC newspaper TheSTATE, and asked that they publish it. This is my third request, altho I had not sent the petition link to them previously. Hopefully, it will be a slow day and someone will act on my request - altho SC politics has been keeping the pundits in stitches this year, I'm hopeful!

I tried signing the petition again and it wouldn't let me sign, and also stated the date that I had already signed. This is something new because I am positive that I signed the petition three or four times previously.

One cannot sign multiple times. The Care2 site settings prevent it, in order for the petition to be legitimate. Imagine if some of us signed several times. I meant individuals seeing the petition thread now, because a lot of people do not visit the forum as often as in the past.

We wanted the country from which the signature originates to appear on the petition in order for us to showcase the popularity of Meerkat Manor. It became obvious of course.

That little bird that flies back and forth across the Atlantic Ocean told me that Meerkat Manor is being shown AGAIN on BBC2...

AND...in her words...

"MM is currently airing on BBC2 on a Sunday evening. It's getting great ratings. Over 1 million per generally with no publicity whatsoever. It was fun to watch The Birds and Rovers Return again last night. I'm particularly proud of the latter - a great episode."

Need I say more?

Yes I do...this little British bird is right...I saw the numbers over the weekend...

The petition link is just above...

Elusive dreams do come true...but not by themselves. ...

Our meerkats need us as much as we need them.
