Would you be able to let us know if there will be something said about Rocket Dog's passing in season 4? I know that when Flower died Mick come on our site and said very touching things about Flower and that everything would unfold in the next season. So, some of us are speculating and would like to know what may happen. Since RD died after the filming I know that an episode will not be possible, but will there be a tribute of some sort for her? It would be nice if the last episode was dedicated to her. She wasn't a DF for very long, but to all of us that does not mean that she was any less important. She was part of Flower's legacy and now she is no longer with us...another Meerkat tragically gone...

I couldn't find the thread, but (outside of MM - when it comes - and a couple of other shows) I never watch AP anymore - the violence is disgusting. I used to watch AP constantly. Too bad!

zettak, i just read the 1st page of that thread. unbelievable!!! they are going to say "sophie" is RD's sis. i just don't get it. i thought mozart was popular, my mistake i guess. i'm not shocked that they continued sophie's character even though she left the group in real life, but wow!!! do you all remember how (during last season) that the kmp monthly reports didn't show the whiskers and starsky info? we can see all the mm star groups now. i'm starting to think that this season is going to usher in a new season of 80% "made for tv" meerkat manor i don't want to be the one to say "the sky is falling!" and i will definately reserve final judgement until i see the first 3 or 4 episodes, but i am very worried that they are going to ruin what i love about the show.

It's going to be more fictional than ever. I guess it has to do with AP's "refocusing". Sophie's character is going to be continued (possibly because she is Mozart's daughter, she was introduced on MM, and Mozart was the most popular meerkat). The same is going to happen with Wilson's character; he was the romantic hero connected to Mozart. MM likes "continuity". Zerocharismo (another poster) managed to find the description of the first two season 4 episodes. It is obvious that Homestar Runner is going to portray "Wilson". HR died recently. I feel sorry for the writers of MM: all the "Wilsons" keep dying on them. The other two rovers mentioned in the producer's announcement are Seacrest, and Zorro. One, I bet, is Philippe (HR's brother, and partner), and the other one is, I suspect, Zarathustra Whiskers that became the DM of the Commandos, a rival group to the Whiskers on MM.
The use of terms like "character", and "portray", reflects the fictional nature of MM.

All the information about the Starsky on the FKMP site appeared after the end of season 3. We saw that the last two members of the group in April 2007 were Mozart, and Shoy Lazuli, who was never mentioned on MM. If Mozart found any companionship at the end, it could possibly be with Shoy, not "Wilson". Even the MM episode summaries on the AP website were very vague (JE, The End Of Romance, The Graduate).

I can really understand the need to re-enact scenes - really I do and I also understand stretching the truth a bit, but I am having trouble understanding why they will continue the character of Wilson and other kats who are no longer there. Since Sean left and we hear all of this, I truly wonder if the MM people have lost it?

I have no problem with MM re-enacting scenes, or sometimes using stand-ins. But continuing a character that passed away, or disappeared is different. MM is becoming almost 100% fictional.

the only encouraging thing that was said in that post on the "breaking news" thread was that we will get to see more groups throughout the study, but if they are just going to make stuff up, why bother???? i really understand that AP might want to present the illusion that meerkats live a little longer than they usually do. call someone else "wilson", i don't care, i probably will find out who it really is. the sophie thing (and mitch if they do the same with him) i really don't like. if the show continued in the "mostly true" style of previous seasons we could have the best episode ever..... a missing sophie or mitch returning to the study area (possibly as a dominant) after being missing for a significant amount of time. now what do they do if that really happens? tell us (if sophie reappeared for instance) "oh, sorry guys we were just BSing you about sophie still being around, now here is the real story...." no, they can't. they just dropped the ball. let the meerkats tell the story. don't they see it has worked quite well up til now?

MM had no choice but to follow more groups. The Whiskers, the stars of the show, split into many other groups (Aztecs, Baobab, Toyota, Van Helsing; some males went to the Commandos, the Kung Fu, and hopefully wild groups). They have less than 20 members (I believe they are 15 now).
Kats can "reappear". Jemima of the Commandos, and currently of the Geckos was recently identified, and Gin Lazuli, that was last seen in October 2007 was observed near the Zappa territory in March. So, Sophie can return, although she was going north when she was last seen, and hopefully she joined a group.
Who is the unknown DM of the Polaris? Four members are wild (including the DF), another one is Carravagio of the Hoax. Unfortunately habituation stopped for this group.

I just wanted to say that I agree with the gang on the fictional part. But, MM from the start has always been more of a soap drama than a documentary. When AP started airing MM they had no idea that so many of us would be involved like we are with KMP and follow the day to day life of the real mks. It will always be what it is. I myself will watch and go along with the plot like a good girl. After the deadly last season I can stand a little humoring. I will watch regardless because I would just miss our MKs. That is just MHO. Hope I don't get to many hip slams.

All of us are going to watch. The meerkats are so adorable. We will see certain meerkats, even if they portray some other ones.

Other rovers that died (Sondheim/Stinker, Houdini), never appeared on MM after the fateful event. This is changing now.

I agree with you Zet. They are adorable. I will love the 50th Wilson just like the real Wilson.

What would really make it great is if they would go and find Shakes. Yeah, I feel like he is out there somewhere waiting.

BTW, I'm still really mad at RD for playing on the road.

Mitch was last seen in November. There is a possibility that he is with a wild group.

Personally, I don't want to see a returning kat unless it is the real thing. Example, I'd love for Mitch to return (he's right up there in my absolute top favorites,)but I don't want claims of his returning if its not him. I don't want to be happy only to find out its not him and I'd prefer to know the truth about those that have gone on.

Oh-Uh, I'm pronkering again!!! I can take a little "depiction", it is worth it to see the kats, but if the show would say something about the kat being "Last seen", wouldn't that generate interest in people finding out more about the little kats once they are no longer on the show instead of (as toribook95 mentioned) the 50th Wilson? We may not know for sure what happened to each kat, but if a kat leaves the research area, it could have joined other kats elsewhere, or if it has died, the information is available if known.

Honestly, how many people know about KMP, FKMP and FE? I only found out about these wonderful things through this forum. Isn't the idea of marketing to peak people's interest in a subject? A lot of people may come to the site for more information and find a world that they never knew existed. More people interested in the kats, better for the show, better for the kats.

As wise bischonmom posted elsewhere, are we going to see Flower again? As much as I adore Flower, pleeeease! I think she has summed it up in a "nut"shell when she says these people have lost it. Pardon my pun, please.

I just hope this "New Attitude" of these people does not blow up in everyone's face.

Amen, Flo. I agree totally. I myself only found this forum by going to raise heck to the writers for killing off Flower.

I thought they could just bring in another Flower. At the time I didn't know about KMP. I really thought that MKM was made up names and stories that AP had applied to wild meerkats. Needless to say I got a double slam when I found out that all of the deaths were real and that all our mks were real. I just thought that they were like soap stars playing a character. I know that makes me really stupid.

I can't really say... we'll have to wait and see. Good luck to the Whiskers... I know they can do it. They'll pull through.

This is the first season that I will be watching that I know a little behind the scene info. As many of us as there are on this site (or one like it) imagine all the viewers that just watch MM on TV and are as much in the dark as I was the first few seasons. I can't believe that I was missing so much.
