"The objects of all of our affections, Flower, Tosca, Mozart, Shakes, Yousarrian, Zaphod on & on & on... OMG such emotions do these names arouse in us their loyal and loving fans.
So much so that the movie will most likely stir feelings we have either denied for months or are still raw & exposed. The cinematography was incredible, exquisite; it was wonderful to see the meerkats on the big screen. WOW! They are all so beautiful. Without giving the story away(Did you read TCB's book?) there is one incredible scene of the meerkats mobbing a snake where one meerkat is literally nose to nose with the snake. I was holding my breath. Was I remembering Flower?
The Lazuli encounters...amazing.
The ending is sweet...so very sweet.
They repeatedly showed the horrible road that the meerkats have to cross with these SUVs whizzing by and then I started to think of Rocket Dog. Maybe I am just too emotional about Flower and all the meerkats to view this film objectively.
All the familiar names are accounted for, but, and it is a big but, unless I missed it, Uncle Youssy no longer has a scar, his distinctive crossed paws or a nervous disposition; marvelous meerkat actors all.
It was nonetheless the "story of Flower", all the children in the audience were clapping and seemed to leave happily; it left me, a meerkat elder, with a heavy heart and bittersweet thoughts of my beloved Flower."
I was not the one who was fortunate enough to see it, but another Manor fan. Just didn't get back in time to edit my post. Like everyone else I will be glued to the TV on May 25!
I probably have to stay late up May 25 to watch it. I'm going to be with a bunch of little cousins who are all brats and I don't want to fight for the tv.
MM:The Story Begins and the Queen of the Kalahari are the same movie. It was seen in NY over the past weekend at the Tribeca Film Festival, and in London April 30 at a private showing for those involved with its making. We do not know if it it will be in theaters.
We continue to hope.
It will be shown on AP on May 25. The DVD will be released 6/3; MM Season 4 begins 6/6
Thanks for providing a little glimpse of what to expect. Sounds like the manor fan who was fortunate enough to see Flower's movie on the wide screen enjoyed the experience.
Counting the days to May 25. Still time to upgrade my television.
I think that perhaps this will be one more memorable experience in our Meerkat Manor journey. The movie is described as the prequel to Flower's reign as Queen of the Kalahari. This may be where its value to us, the keepers' of the Flame, our Flower's memory, lies. ♥♥♥
Ccatz you just say "All the familiar names are accounted for, but, and it is a big but, unless I missed it, Uncle Youssy no longer has a scar" What do you mean whit THAT??? Whas it before Youssy gets hit scar or does he never had a scar and whas it just maked?
It would be interesting to know just who these stand-in actors are. Are they some of the meerkats in the currently habituated study mobs, or from wild groups? Enquiring minds want to know
