Dont u think that alot of meerkat have been passing (dying) lately??? Alot of grous have lost alot of members and the DM .&. DF's have been passing or leaving also??? Yes, it's sad that our beloved meerkats are dying. But this is part of nature. Just remember that the spirit of the departed ones lives on in our hearts.

Squirrelly, I wish there were a lot of new pups, but sady, there isn't I have the life history reports from April to July, and this is what they say about pups:

April - only 6 (3 Whiskers, one Vivian, one Rascal, and one Drie Doring).
May - only one pup (Vivian) for the entire manor!
June - same as May
July - NO PUPS FOR THE ENTIRE MANOR

There have been more miscarriages and abortions over this 4-month period than successful births. In April, VZZF044 (Punk) lost a litter. VGGF012 (Zorilla) was pregnant but lost her litter in May, when VYF128 (Lotte) got pregnant. Lotte's litter was aborted in June. There were no pregnant females or pups in July.

Something has just got to give, or our little darlings will become an endangered species. I hope the KMP people read this and bend their rules a little bit. Just my $0.02 worth.

Very few pups are born during the Kalahari winter. But the totals are alarming. THe KMP website used to say 290 meerkats being studied. I added up the gangs last night and the total was only 143 (no headcount for Abba & Starsky). They've lost half the meerkats.

Thanks Meerkat1212 those numbers are shocking I hope something can be done soon or we will not have a Season 4 or 5. The Meerkats need Help in the Kalahari ASAP...

Something to look forward to is the rains should return in 2 months and foraging should be easier, provided they come. Then with luck, the pups follow.

Yes, hopefully now that there is a vet out there (I heard that at least) this disease can be dealt with and hopefully some good weather will arrive with lots of good foraging - and all the mobs get there doms in order so that some litters can follow - I think Rocket Dog's first litter should be named after different flowers in remembrance of flower -

You are right atilla, but we need those pups. We have to find Rocket Dog her own Carlos or maybe a Houdini.

Zaphod used to watch over Flower when the Rovers would come calling and all his daughters would meet up with them - that would be the way Rocket Dog could have a litter right now anyway
