Rocket Dog was a valiant & worthy leader! She persevered forward despite having to endure the worst drought in a decade, the major food shortages, the group split, the multiple miscarriages & the most trying task of all... filling in Flower's shoes!
For her not to loss her life to a predator, (those who are just trying to survive & feed their young), or to a rival clan, (who are just trying to further there own survival & their groups future in the competitive an unforgiving Kalahari. But to a VEHICLE is disheartening to say the least.
I pray that Rocket Dog is getting reacquainted with her parents, Flower & Youssarian, & the rest of her loved ones the preceded her in death. Most of all with her precious pups that were sent straight to heaven!
suricate_VVM032, this was a great tribute to Rocket Dog! I don't know if you are the one who set it up, but it was well done. Although I have always believed Tosca and Shakes are still out there, and I rarely ever cry, I had to shed a tear, just like I did with the other tributes to the other loved Meerkats, but this one was kind of different because RD passed due to an accident that should have never happened by humans. Thank you for this great tribute, love ya RD!
THANK YOU very much for the kind words Philmeerkat!
They can be extremely hard to view, but believe me they're even much harder to make/put together! I refrained from making tributes/memorials in past because thay can be so depessing. I gave in though because I wanted to share what info I knew with fellow fans, and keep the memory of these fascinating & lovable creatures alive!
Very cool suricate_vvm032, and very sad...made me cry again. philmeerkat is right, this should never have happened, but unfortunately as you said, sometimes humans are the biggest threat. And it breaks my heart that she died this way. Anyway thank you for your tribute.
BTW, might I ask what software you use for your videos?
Thank yuo suricate for pointing me to the tributes to Rocket Dog. I hadn't been on the forum in a few days, and I just found out today that she died. I am once again devastated at another great loss. I wish I had friends here who watch the show so I could talk about the loss. Yet I am grateful I have this forum so I can share my feelings online. I will miss her so, and wonder how it will be to watch the intro with her as DM knowing she is now gone. Alyse
I'd like to thank the both of you, flowersfriendcls & alyse928 respectively for the kind words about Tribute that I made for Rocket Dog! My YouTube account name is iBaDvS1. I added my friends link also because she is really passionate about meerkats and the videos that she displays on YouTube! Personally I've tried to stray from loading the sad & somewhat depressing Tribute/Memorial videos, but I enjoy sharing the great information with fellow fans that I always get from this forum. Lotta friendly folks on this site, present company included! I'm finishing up my tribute to Shakespeare at this time. Then it's back to happier videos! In answering your question flowersfriendcls, I just use WINDOWS MEDIA MAKER. I have added more "Video effects & Transitions that I have found for free on different sites. I do have Adobe Premiere Pro, but still have been to lazy to figure it out, LOL. Take care you two!
Thank you so much for the beautiful tributes. Since I don't have anyone that lives near me that understands, I know I can come here to share my pain. It's nice to know that there are people like you that understand that these creatures are more then just figures in a t.v program.
First I would like to say thank you, Suricate for a beautiful tribute to Rocket Dog. Of the "newer generation" of meerkats, Rocket Dog was/is my favorite. I feel she had difficult paws to follow and had a lot of potential. Has anyone confirmed this news? I just think that Animal Planet should put a special message on the web page to honor her! Also, what if anything will be done about cars racing through this area?
I think I have an understanding about how you feel about "our" kats animal-lover621! They've taken my heart as quick as they can take a scorpion!
mozartfav: The terrible news about Rocket Dog was a thread posted by PRONKER! Pronker helps run the FKMP (Friends of the Kalahari Meerkat Project) with the President, Evi Bauer aka(pangolin.li). As much as I would like to think that it's just a rumor, if it's from Pronker, it's correct!
