Imas, The first thing I do when I see a new Life history report is to make sure Zaphod is still dominant of the Aztecs Long live the King of the Kalahari!
He wears a radio collar since he started roving after Flower's death. It is useless. The batteries are old, and the researchers don't want to put Zaphod under anesthesia in order to replace them because he is old. So, he cannot be tracked like this. He can be recognized by it though, and by his appearance. He is older, and huge. I assume he had a microchip implanted, as well.
Thank you Zettak. I wish they could put another one on him, but I understand as he may not make it through the anesthesia. Bless his little heart. I hope and pray he is ok. Fingers and paws crossed for our big guy.
Not only do they not want to chance anesthesia he is very "grouchy" around humans. He growls at them if they get too close or if you stare at him too long. Maybe he's tired of the limelight?
We got some recent photos and I'm sure Evi will load them up to the gallery as soon as she can. They included some great shots of Mr. and Mrs. Aztecs, The Big Als at Baobab and some others.
As of today the King of the Kalarhari still commands his desert kingdom.
I guess this is as close to a Zaphod thread as we can get. He really deserves to have his own thread so we can tell how much we love this little guy and what a character he is. I guess I could start one. I really miss seeing him each and every Friday night. WE NEED SEASON 5!!!!!!!Just the thought of him always makes me smile. He is grouchy with humans? Sounds like a smart man to me....lol.... He could be the Manor's Godfather......
Zaphod is very cranky in his old age many have said, I wonder has he always been not to fussed with Humans? many visitors diaries have mentioned "the look that says it all" when he is stared at for too long, some have said he tries to bite people who get too close to him! One comment that made me laugh was that he sometimes makes a gnarling expression at people but he has only a few teeth now and he just shows you his gums. Hes still a funny little guy I think.
Ive seen the "mr and mrs aztecs" picture Pronker mentions - it's very nice indeed along with the new pics of Bruce.. and I still think those Baobab males look scary!
He is like many "older humans" (and some young ones too) but who likes to be stared at anyway? He just wants to do his own thing and gets grumpy when he can't. I cannot blame him for that. He wants to be left to do what Zaphod likes to do. If someone tries to take my food away I would get grumpy too. lol...... Nothing wrong with that. He may just BE tired of all the limelight. What is in it for him anyway? Or he may just get up on the wrong side of the burrow some mornings. You go Zaphod. You give that look all ya want! You deserve it!!!! You've earned it. Such a cutie pie!
