Time has passed in the desert there has been much rain. Flower has her litter and all go off foraging leaving Daisy to babysit. Flower is monitoring Mozart who will give birth shortly. Mozart slips off to return to the burrow. Will she kill Flower's new pups with only Dizzy Daisy to protect them?
Ep 13 The Quiet Fields
"Cry havoc, and let slip the dogs of war!"
Hannibal and Nikita return with a vengence.
Mozart has given birth. Flower moves burrow leaving them to their fates. Fate is not kind, enter the Commandos.
Mozart is out foraging alone and is scared further away from her pups by a predator.
The Commandos find the burrow. The title of the episode says it all. Mozart is alone again.

I really need to quit reading theses things.I just hope Mozart does'nt come up agianst the wraith of Hannibal and Nikita.Surely gentle Mozart would not kills pups of any kind has the girl lost her mind? I dread this one.....Any ETA on the new shows starting??
I hope Mozart doesn't kill Flower's new pups. I also hate the thought of Mozart losing her own pups to the Commandoes. I don't think I can take much more of these killings of these adorable little pups."sniff, sniff
I don't know when season 3 will start. I hope it doesn't have pups getting killed. I don't want the adults getting killed either. I love all the meerkats.
Thanks for the update. Maybe Mozart will join the rest of the group and let her maternal instincts take over with Flower's new pups. This is so sad! I wonder how many pups Flower does have this time.
ok, i know that this is the spoiler content and what I'm about to say is off the point, but can someone please tel me how to start a new topic? I'm new
Thanks for being the bearer of bad news. I read from a UK sight as to what happens in the last episode and didn't want to be the one who gave it away.
That being said, after all the uproar over Blossum and a few posters drinking the "interventionist kool-aid" or worse, saying it is time to go to Africa and shoot goshawks, one has to wonder what the posts will look like Friday night and over the weekend.
I think Flower has to be strict now, her mob is getting rather large and how much bigger can it get before things come to a head and they have to split off?
I will tape the shows and fast forward through the worst of it I am afraid. I can't stand watching those little darlings suffer.

I too think that there will be a loud uproar because its more than one pup this time and they are Mozart's pups They'll probably get a posse together to track down the camera crew and hold them responsible. Sigh...
And yllohc, taping is a good way to see what you need to see and not what you don't need to see.
I think we have used lots of tissues during season two. I am dreading season three but hope it is not as bad. I wonder if someone from the Uk will give us advance warning of season three. We haven't heard from Ripshakey for awhile. I hope the last two episode of season two isn't too graphic.
I would like to know where the post(s) are stating that people are going to go to Africa and start shooting the Goshawks over Blossoms death. Is that a U.K post????? I have not read anything like that on the U.S. posts.
For all of you stiff upper lip people. Congrats to you all!!!! You are able to handle death better than some of us can. Some people like myself are very sensitive to the deaths of animals, especially babies.. So if you are "wondering what the posts will look like on Friday and over the weekend" please remember that this is a chat room and we sensitive people are as much entitled to our opinions as is everyone else.
Why did Mozart cause all those problems with Daisy? Mozart behaved like the alpha-dominant and truly stepped on Flower's authority. And, as we all know, Flower is not tolerant of this. When this episode occurred, it was obvious that Flower would eventually make a burrow move to punish Mozart and her pups. The writing was on the wall...
I think there is a I hate goshawks thread on the main board. I haven't read it so I don't know if they are calling for goshawks to be shot.
I was not saying that "sensitive" people are not entitled to their opinions. I think it very natural to react to the death of animal with horrow and grief. But I am concerned about the outcry on the boards after the last episode. It has just begun to settle after the loss of Blossom.
They are going to show something very natural and something that happens frequently. Actually I am hoping they won't show it graphically because when a female meerkat gets a hold of a litter of pups she will often eat them and share them with her mob almost like a victory dinner. And I won't describe how.
And athen it was very natural behavior caused by hormones and age that sent Mozart into a tizzy of dominant behavior. It is also the reason that Flower is keeping her eyes on her oldest daughter. She's afraid for her own pups.
Flower does not move burrows to punish the sub-female. She wants her own pups to be safe and cannot take the chance that the other sub-female will kill her pups when she is not there to look after them.
Actually Flower is an exception in not killing the sub-females pups. Most other dom-females would kill the newborn pups and eat them.
Mozart's behavior may also trigger a violent fight between mother an daughter that will get her evicted for good. Sometimes the sub-female will win the fight and become the dominant one.
It's a very complex social structure in the mobs and there is still a lot of questions about their behavior to be answered.
Check out the official I hate goshawk posts on the main chat board. One poster does say he/she wants to shoot them all.
Also, check out the posts about holding the researchers responsible for Blossum's death, if you have not done so already. Look at what was said and the tone thereof and make up your own mind.
Everyone has the right to post what they believe and think, that's a given.
Have a good evening and smile, it's less than 24 hours till the new episodes.
As much as I am deeply hurt from blossom's death to the hawk - it is nature. Yes I would of loved for the crew to save her - I would of saved her if I was there. But she did not die in vain like the Mozarts pup out in the sun. That hawk probably had babies to feed also.
I really wish they would turn the cameras off and save little pups from such an obvious death. But then again, Flower ate and ripped apart a bird - and that bothered me too. I love all animals - predator & prey. That bird might of had little ones in a nest somewhere. It is the food chain. I HATE it!
I hope the last two episodes do not dwell on poor Mozarts pups being killed. Soooo sad.
"Mozart's behavior may also trigger a violent fight between mother an daughter that will get her evicted for good."
Oh my gosh Pronker does that mean that Mozart, my sweet caring Mozart, does the unthinkable and kills Flower's pups? :O
And I hate those blasted Commandoes!!! They are psychotic!
As much as I love watching MM, I also dread watching the new episodes. There's been so much death and trauma this season! I've gone through 20 pounds of tissue already.
To Zaphodstheman, cannot find the main thread to the "I hate Goshawks" post....is it in the U.S. main posts or another country maybe? One thought concerning such a post would be perhaps those writing underneath this "main post" are children venting their anger and frustration over Blossoms' death. Personally my mind is already made up and I do not need to rely on a post to help me. Since the producers of Meerkat Manor let us into the lives of these animals, one can only succumb to falling in love with them and caring about what happends to them, especially through the eyes of a child. While i do not hate Goshawks, I have stated in the main post "Another Death In The Whiskers" that I cannot identify with a Goshawk. Why? Well perhaps as a result of watching Meerkat Manor unfold, I have come to the conclusion that meerkats are highly social animals and seem to lead lives and have emotions very much like us.....time for Meerkat manor!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So cruel to exploit poor Blossom in the latest commercial!!!!! Why couldnt they just have left her out of it.... What point are they trying to make anyway with putting her in there????????????????????
Well, I also was disturbed a little by the fact that they had Blossom in the last commercial when she had already met her fate. Is it possible that they make the commercials BEFORE they do the final cuts on the shows themselves? That's the only reason I could think of...
Anyway, that last episode sure was hard to watch, I covered my eyes for a few seconds when the Commandos were attacking Mozart's poor pups. Poor pups! It is true that their survival was doubtful, either they AND Mozart would have died on their own from starvation or parasites, or Mozart would have had to abandon them like Daisy did when she had her litter. Maybe their next lives they'll get to be a dominant females' pups and have a better chance. Perhaps now Mozart will be able to go back to the Whiskers and maybe even RESIST THAT RASCAL CARLOS?????
Darkness makes the light sweeter, and tragedy makes us appreciate life all the more. Till next season ya'll...
Yes I agree with you Gommango...very well put. One thought comes to mind however. The producers could have pulled the commercial or even better edited Blossom out of it.
