Hey LFM,

We don't know for sure what exactly happened to Mitch. Some believe that he immigrated into a neighboring wild group. Others are not so sure.

He was well into roving age when he dispersed from the Whiskers, so chances are he left the group and either..

1) Start his own group
2) Immigrate into another one.

However, none the less even if the researchers of the KMP found him after that, it would have been long after his dye marks faded, making it difficult for them to identify him (unless they checked his ID chip). I have every reason to believe that Mitch is still out there (that is if he's managed to avoid predators, vicious fights from neighboring groups, poison from a snake or some other means, and of course the dreaded TB and other diseases/starvation Frown ) And I know MM made up quite a bit of stuff in the storyline, but with Mitch I don't think they were exaggerating. I think he had all that it takes to survive in the Kalahari Smile

Because he was a male (and I hate to say this) he had a much better chance of surviving than evicted females do. Other mobs rarely accept other females into their group as there is too much competition between the ladies already. Males however, have a much better chance.

Mitch in season 4 was played by Machu-picchu.

The original Mitch was part of the 'inca' roving coalation led by Zaphod that joined Aztecs. Before the inca's joined Aztecs, Mitch was observed leaving alone.. and that was the last time he was seen.

Well, The real Mitch hasn't been see since season 2. The other meerkats you saw that played Mitch was Machu-Picchu, And I can't remember the rest. Maybe the original was part of The Inca, Like zaphod-vvm032 said. It's posable that Mitch is still alive. It's just like Tosca & Shakespeare, No one knows what happened to them. We might never know.... Whait, Don't the KMP dye their fur?

@ Zorro,

Yes they do dye-mark all the habituated kats in the project to identify them apart from one another. However the dye-marks only last so long (I think after 3 weeks or so they start to fade). Thus the dye has to be re-applied frequently. It's like dying your own hair, it'll last for some time but not forever, same with the dye the KMP uses to identify each individual. So like I said Mitch's dye-marks will have long since faded, however he was still ID chipped.

So, He's STILL ID chiped? Sorry, It's just that Mitch was one of my fav. meerkats on MM. Hey, Can I ask you a favor, Can you ask the KMP(Since your part of the KMP website.) If Mitch is still alive?

Zorro_Pal,
Mitch was with the Whiskers during season 3 and intil September of season 4. When Zaphod chased away that roving male and the other males followed mitch was among them. As mentioned above Mitch was observed roving off alone. His fate remains unknown. He could be in the Nequoia for all we know.

A Meerkat that is ID chipped remains ID chipped for it's life, same code and everything. The chips used in the Meerkats are like the ones used in domestic pets, in order for an ID chip to confirm a meerkats identity someone has to physicaly scan the meerkat. There is no radio signal or anything that tells KMP where any one kat is (only a radio collar does that) Mitch has been gone a long time. Territories change overtime. He could be just about anywhere now if he is still alive, only his ID chip would identify him now so the chances of him turning up would be slim.. he would have to be observed roving at an habituated group or be part of a new group to be found again.
