I can't remember which episode of which season but one of my favorite scenes was when the narrative was explaining the whole Yossarian and Flower past relationship thing.. all the kats were relaxing in the shade - we had a close up of Yossarian snoozing and Zaphod was close by with one and a half eyes open looking right at him.
Off topic - I bought and watched "Catch22" recently.. I can honestly say I understand now why people where suprised that Yossarian in catch 22 is Crazy and the meerkat Yossarian was also: 'a bit weird' - so many similarities! i'm still trying to work out what the film was about though.. very odd.
I have a few. One of them was from season one, when a roving male showed up while Flower was in estrus and it made Zaphod nervous. So he wouldn't leave her side in order to mate-guard her and he even sat on her while she was foraging! Haha, to which Flower was NOT happy about. I always thought that that scene was a cute one
Yes the legendary Mate-gaurding, many times we would see Zaphod being buried in sand as Flower dug for food.
It was a shame filming didn't happen in the last 12 months.. a funny set of photo's from a friends visit made me laugh, they are of the Aztecs all huddling around their burrow in the evening and in about 5 shots we see Zaphod's eyes close over, he falls head first to the ground and seems to roll down the burrow! none of the other members seem to show any recognition of this hilarious moment, imagine if that had been on TV, i would laugh and laugh!
my favorite scene was in season 2 when the vivan were attacking the whiskers splinter and they were caught off guard by zaphod and when they gave chase his children came to his aid it showed how close they once were even though at the time they didnt know the splinter was in that burrow.
One of my favorite scenes is after the fight with the Commandos(Vivian) and everyone has returned to the Whiskers burrow except for Zaphod and Mitch. We're all worried about them, when suddenly our 2 heroes burst into view and we can all breathe a sigh of relief
I also love the commercial in season 3 that says "Who's the roving male looking for some tail" and then they cut to some female kats and say "Zaphod!!!!!"
zaphod was the one constant on the show, from the 1st episode til the last. i find it fitting that the last clip we saw of him was when homestar (wilson) and phillipe were roving at the aztecs. homestar went off after monkulus, and the young and fit phillipe was left staring the old warhorse in the eyes.......... and thought better of it and moved off. zaphod was (and still is) a scrapper and a bruiser, and if it was the last we ever "see" of him, it was the right way for him to be remembered.
I beleive zapod can still hold his own, he has had a long good life and produced lots of pups. He is the king of the kalahari. You dont get to live as long as he has by not knowing. Long live me king. He is and alway's was one of my favorites.
