Does anyone know anything about the new season? I see alot of posts, and get confused with the different names for each meerkat in each country it is shown in..
I am in the USA, and, for example, whoopi was known as delasoul in another country. What is happening so far that we can look forward to or cry over..

well, we shouldn't have too many deaths early in the season at least. houdini (kmp dougal) died during last years filming, and hanibal (kmp jim bob) was either late last season, or in the time they are not filming, i believe. but he and nikita (kmp rhian) may have been early this season coming up. zarathustra whiskers was never introduced on the show, but now he is dm of the commandos alongside zorilla. so much movement within the groups, and many splinter groups forming. it should be a very exciting start to the season. and lola disappears, almost forgot that one, and zaphod moves to the aztecs with his niece maybeline.

Suggs and Mitch have also gone missing, with Mitch being more recent. The entire Vivian group, who played the Commandoes in close-ups, has died out, and the whole Young Ones, who played shots of the whole Zappa group (for size, I think), has likely left the reserve.
Suggs and Tina Sparkle (Sophie) also founded a group called Hoax a long time ago with some wild meerkats; it seemed this actually happened BEFORE Flower's death, in December 2006 (at least a month ealier). However, Suggs went missing; with the earlier death of Izzy (I don't know what happened there), this leaves Buster as the youngest child of Flower. Sophie was the last known Hoax member, and was pregnant at the time the group dispersed. She is no longer tracked, but is likely either still on the reserve or joined a wild group.
Finally, Hawkeye (Rocky?) founded Baobab with some of her sisters, a very new group that's only semi-habituated.

One turned out to be a female. Mau Mau and Sid Vicious disappeared, Suggs disappeared, Caravaggio went to a new group, Polaris, and Houdini (Not in MM at all) went to Moomins and went north. Tina Sparkle also went north and was possibly accepted into their ranks, being probably the second oldest meerkat in the group (Houdini possibly being older)

Sophie the 2nd oldest kat in a group? She's hardly more than a baby herself.

Sophie (aka Tina Sparkle) was born in September 2004, so that would make her 3 years old now. She was born a few weeks after Mitch, Rocky (aka Hawkeye), Cruise, and Logan (aka Einstein). So, she's past the juvenile stage.

I think Sophie and the pups never rejoined the Whiskers at all, and it was all made up by AP. On the Roving Roulette contest, it says that both Busta and Suggs, probably thus accompanied by Izzy and of course Tina Sparkle, formed the Hoax with wild meerkats. Busta apparently rejoined the Whiskers soon after but Suggs and Tina Sparkle didn't and I have to keep my mouth shut about Izzy.

Lots of interesting stuff going on.
-Mitch is missing? Wow, thats really too bad. He is one of my favorite Meerkats (second only to Flower). I hope he's OK, and I hope we get to see him again.
-So Sophie, Izzy, Buster and Suggs formed they're own group? During season 3? Why were we never told about it? And why were we never informed of Izzy's death?
-Hannibal died?Too bad. Hannibal was cool, and it's too bad he's gone.
Season 4 should be interesting to say the least.

Izzy disappeared about 2 weeks before Flower died, sometime in early January.

I have been reading this post and am amazed that everyone is showing their knowledge of the Meerkats by saying who died, what meerkat went to some other mob. How can people watch and enjoy Meerkat Manor when everyone is so busy telling who died, who went to another mob, etc. I guess that I just like to see what's happening at the time of the start of thee season and start watching the new generation of Flower and Zaphod's children.

kellyjello, i thought the same as you when i first joined this forum. i remember it well. the day after "jouney's end" showed. i pretty much had it figured out before the airing of the show that she was going to die before the episode began, and when they named the episode JE, i knew it in my heart. i then went online and stumbled upon the fkmp site, and spent hours there that night. the next day i found this site. from what i've learned on both, meerkat manor and the kalahari meerkat project are (very sadly) not the same thing. when i began watching meerkat manor i believed the disclaimor at the beginning of the show. now i know that is not entirely the case. i am very much looking forward to season #4 because it will be from a different perspective that i had for season's 1, 2, and 3. i will have a general idea what is going to happen, and at the same time, i will be looking for the "modifications" that meerkat manor makes to the truth. i plan to study the die marks a little more. i am going to get a whole new way to watch the show, and what a great show it is. the main character died and the show goes on........... ABC doesn't show us that :P

kellyjello,
Like NazarethDodo said, what happens on MM isn't exactly the truth. The behaviors you see are real, but the individuals/groups engaged in those behaviors and the circumstances surrounding those behaviors may not be true.
For example in seasons 2 and 3 the Commandos are actually the Vivian group. Hannibal is actually Jim Bob, DM of the Vivians. And Nikita is actually Rhian, DF of the Vivians. Tosca's real name is Baddiel. Maybelline's real name is Monkulus There are more examples, but you get the idea.
If you want more information about the meerkats, visit the Friends of the Kalahari Meerkats (FKMP) here:
http://friends.kalahari-meerkats.com/
There has also been a book written about Flower called "Meerkat Manor - The Story of Flower of the Kalahari". It can be find at amazon.com.
I have also put together a meerkat family tree. If you would like a free copy, email me. If you have any questions, we are more than happy to answer them.

This forum does say it has spoiler content. If you don't want to know what is really happening then don't come into this forum. Most of this was caused by Shakespear. When he disappeared he was so loved that everyone wanted to know what really happened to him. So, a lot of us made a choice. I would rather know the truth and try to understand what their life is really like. I believe most of us did some soul searching before we made our choice. You will have to decide for yourself if you want to know all.

So, in some scenes a close-up of a group is not really that group? If they show a close-up of the commandos,it's really another group, and if they show a long shot, it's really the commandos?

Never mind. I read the rest of the comments and they answered my question. I guess that there is not really a commando named group, real name is Vivians. But I thought the Vivian group dispersed back in 2005? I did hear that in the U.S., where I live, the names of the Meerkat groups and individuals, with the exception of the whiskers, have different names from other countries.

The Vivian dispersed toward the end of 2007, when Rhian, the DF, and other members passed, presumably from TB. Jim Bob, the DM passed away around April 2007. They were only a few meerkats left before that. There is a Commandos group. Zarathustra Whiskers, one of Flower's sons became the DM of the Commandos recently, after he joined the group with several of his brothers.

I am so grateful for this MM forum and the 'Spoiler Content' section because I appreciate the truth. I wish I would have known a/b Flowers death and the true story of it before I watched the show. Thank you to all of you who share honest facts of our beloved meerkats. For those of you who might not want to know anything before it happens, please do not come to this spoiler content section.
I too am rooting for Mitch and Sophie: I pray we see them again in season 4. Nine months of no Meerkat Manor on TV is too long!

I know I'm posting almost a month after this discussion, but it's deja vu for me. I came here a week or so before JE to read posts and joined after JE aired. I so needed more info. I, too, was confused by the different names and groups between MM and KMP. Now that I know a little more and joined FKMP as a friend, I've figured out even more.
AP has to make a story line. The researchers can't be with the same group every day, so they miss some big happenings. If the event fits the story line, they may use older footage or reverse the direction of the footage to help fill in the gaps where they didn't get footage. It's not done to fool us, necessarily, it's done to create a story line that makes sense and that folks will watch.
I hope you are happy with your decision to learn more or not. If you do, happy digging, there are lots of ways to learn more about our little furries.
