Aretha (VLF094), Cazanna's daughter, and DF of the Lazuli for years died in May (after MM filming ended). Her brother J. Alfred Prufrock (VLM105) is not the natal DM anymore. The new dominant pair is Young (VLF111), and Thundercat (VLM114) who is one of Cazanna's sons. The Lazuli have only 11 members. I wonder if anybody knows Aretha's cause of death. Did she have TB?
The Lazuli are going to be featured on MM again this season.

I can't wait to see the Lazuli on TV again! I'm really nervous about all the old groups with dwindling numbers

If I'm not mistaken, Thundercat (aka Squeak) may be Yossarian and Cazanna's son. I think somebody posted that a long while back. I don't know how Aretha died. I hope she died quickly and didn't suffer.

The Lazuli have had recent encounters with the Aztecs, so will be good to seem them back on the show, i think Dec 07 or Jan 08, 3 pups were killed by predator

The Lazuli had 4 pups either dying, or being predated in March. Two females (Diana, and Papillion) were evicted before that, but they formed a small, new group, the JX. And then Aretha died, and J. Alfred Prufrock "disappeared". What happened to him? There is no wonder the Lazuli have only 11 members. The territories changed recently, so the Lazuli are closer to the Whiskers again (and the Nutters, the Toyota, and the Elveera), but far from the Aztecs.
Of the old groups, the Drie Doring, the Moomins, the Frisky, and the Lazuli have very few members. Of the relatively newer, the Zappa have a few members, as well. There might be some hope for the Rascals. They have 6 members now. The 3 solitary females were joined by 3 wild rovers, it seems.

Yeah zettak you are correct Lazuli have not encountered Aztecs since Dec07, most recently have encountered Nutters (i see Whiskers are also having numerous run-ins with Nutters) so maybe Aztecs moving further away from Whiskers after having MANY encounter with Whiskers during 07 (dont suppose anyone knows who: VLP136 is, my name list(s) doesnt have it

Lost_Lazuli
The Aztecs, and the Lazuli had encounters in later 2007. Their territories slightly overlapped back then. That's why the Lazuli are going to be featured on MM again (in a future episode). According to the latest territory map, the Nutters territory neighbors the Lazuli territory. VLP136 is a pup that died in March 2008, and was not named.

The Whiskers territory is bordering the Lazuli territory since MM filming started (it still is). Lazuli rovers visited the Whiskers, and the Aztecs. Whiskers rovers visited the Lazuli.

Ok, I dont mean to sound stupid, but what does "pre-dated" mean? Did the researchers put down a meerkat because it had TB?
Also, with Aztec/Whiskers split, we are now getting to see more groups on the show. In the past, it seemed like one season it was the Lazuli and then the Commandos the next. Now, we get to see them all.

Predated means killed by a predator.

JD Lazuli was one of the kats that portrayed "Carlos". He passed away in late 2006 when he was the DM of the Starsky.

it will be very nice to see the lazuli back on the show later this season, and perfect timing too it appears. i just hope they don't say "cazanna" is still running the group though. i'm thinking they will also be shown in season #5 too.

I Think the JD i meant was explained by zettak "J. Alfred Prufrock (VLM105) is not the natal DM anymore." do you know what happen to him?

lost lazuli, jd had me confused at first too. this was the first time i found out that one (actual) meerkat played two different characters on the show. i wonder if they will "censor" the kmp info on the lazuli now that they will be appearing on mm......
j.a.p. is about that age, just like zara, flava, and jogu that he should be thinking about seeing what is out there, i think. one commercial they got right on AP was the one saying it was a time of change.

I hope that J. Alfred Prufrock appears roving, visiting, or joining a group (last year he visited either the Aztecs, or the Whiskers, or both, and the Elveera) in the next LH report. Unfortunately some of us cannot see the reports for the Aztecs, and the Whiskers right now. These groups have natal DMs, and the DFs would like to have a non-relative for a mate. Zaphod can be considered as almost a natal DM, since the DF will not mate with him. It seems that JAP was the DM in April, he was not last seen (in the May report), and Thundercat became the DM of the Lazuli in May.
