Does anyone know the names of either Punk's or Maybelline's pups? It's been over 2 months so they have been named now, haven't they? I'd like to add their name and FKMP id code to my long list of names.

Also, wouldnt Maybelline's pups be the first ones in Aztecs, making them VAZF001 or AZM001 thru 4? Also, do the FKMP members get to name some of the pups or do the researchers at the KMP project area have that right?

How do we find out the names or are they posted somewhere on the FKMP webiste? It tells me the number, but not the names and sex of the darlings. I hope they will tell us before Season 4 begins so that I won't be wondering who is who all the time. Thank you to anyone who knows the answers.

poco, i can't answer all of your questions, but here's what i can tell you:

the kmp researchers name the pups, i'm a member of fkmp and as far as i know none of the fkmp people have named pups.

that sounds like the correct code pattern for the aztec pups. they'll start out with P in place of the F or M until they're old enough for the researchers to tell which gender they are.

i imagine that the first publicly-released info on the names of the many, many new pups that have been born recently will come with an updated name list on the kmp website. i don't know when one of those will be available, since the last one is only a couple of months old right now.

Both Punk's and Maybelline's pups have been named; unfortunately I cannot tell you the names until they are released publicly.

WOW!!! I think there is only one question out of the many you asked (?) that I can answer for you. The FKMP members do NOT name any of the pups! Believe me, if it were left up to the FKMP members, the poor pups would go nameless for years before the members could ever agree on names. From my understanding, it is up to the KMP volunteers to name all pups and wild immigrants.

It is true that the pups of both Punk and Monkulus have been named, but I don't know the genders nor the id codes. As is often the case, the names do not lend much help in identifying the gender of the pup. I hope that the list is provided on the FKMP site also (especially since I have forgotten what the he** they are, as well).

Sorry, girl, but can't help you with the VAZF/VAZM stuff either. I'm afraid I just don't know. (((( I hope your Dad is doing better ))))

About pup names: The TCB book says pups are named when they start to forage with the group. The research volunteer for that group chooses the names, which explains why the KMP names are highly variable and international.

Whatever MM chooses to call the pups, I can't wait to see them starting in June!!! We need some happy storylines.

If you go to the FKMP site, the new name list is up for March '08. It lists the names of the pups born to both Monkulus and Punk. It also tells us that little Amira's pup is named "Juno". We also learn the names of some of the wild 'kats that have now been habituated. If you're into the dye markings, the new name list even provides that info too!

Lots of good information and you do NOT have to be an FKMP member to learn these cool bits of data. Sure wish I owned a printer!! Have fun diggin' dear friend!

I am glad to have a list of the meerkats still with us, but I'm not understanding some of the list. I see juno on the list and I see that her mother is conversioned to Amira. But, I don't see another pup of hers. Did she have just the one, or did the others die?

What does Junos litter number mean? Is juno the second pup born in 2008 to the Whiskers? Who was first?

Is that really corect that a pup is named 'the Game'? Whats up with that? I'm happy that Punk now has a son and daughter. I guess we won't get to see Juno and Punk's young'ns in season 4, will we?

I downloaded the name list late last night and haven't been able to really get into it yet. I did look at the Whiskers and noticed they listed Nugget and Beaker as belonging to Monkulus. Aren't they RD's pups?

Monkulus's pups are Marmite, Tofu, Abaca and Piglet. Can't guarantee I spelled those correctly.

Punk's surviving pups are Gimli and Eowyn (Lord of the Rings names), there was another but it did not survive.

Actually "The Game" is a downright normal name compared to some previous wacky ones such as Widow Twanky, The Pooka Mcphelimy, Danger Wank, Baldersnatch, and Hindu Floaty Thing

Glad to see that little Amira has at least one pup. Like the name Juno for Amira's pup. Also liked the choice of Piglet for one of Maybelline's pups and Gimli and Eowyn for Punk's pups.

I see they went over the top with the names again. I's fine with me.

Juno seems to be popular. On Lemur Kingdom we have Queen Juno and her wee Princess Jasmine, fathered by his highness Pegleg, King of the paupers!

I love piglet for a meerkat name...I had a south african pygmy hedgehog named Piglet...he lived to be over 7 years old...sure miss him though.

I'm very happy that so many pups have been born, the meerkat population is booming again...a very good thing indeed!!

You are right, and it is obviously a typo (like a typo in my previous post, i's instead of it's).

I guess that Zorilla's pups that were born in the end of November 2007 were fathered by poor Zara.
