When Jon and Kate started taking each of the kids out for their "Special Day," Kate mentioned that they were going to be spending more time with Aunt Jodi. She said that Jodi loves them for WHO they are, rather than WHAT they are. It immediately made me wonder if Kate's comment was directed toward Beth Carson. I know Beth is co-authoring Kate's book. I hope that hasn't created a rift between them. I keep watching for some sign of Beth or her family in the recent episodes, but haven't seen them since the comment was made.

I really like this show, but when Kate lost it about the gum!!! I couldn't believe it!She is soooo lucky to have Jodi helping her with ALL those kids.
It's funny, because Beth was on the next episode here. They go skiing in Utah. Boy are they starting to roll in the perks!

There is no way to know because the episodes are not shown in time order. It is weird how they mix the shows. I think Kate's comment was aimed at others who want to get in on the publicity. She always seems worried about that. I don't think she was talking about Beth though.

In regards to the episode with the gum. I was so shocked to see Kate screaming that she was going to throw away Collins stuffed animal if she couldn't get the gum out. HMM I wonder what did she teach her children at that moment? Was it never to chew gum or was it yelling and threatning to emotionaly hurt someone is the way to get what you want?

She taught him the same lesson many parents teach their children about if they dirty or ruin something that cannot be cleaned or fixed, it will be discarded.

Its not just teaching him not to chew gum but to follow rules and to take care of your belongings or you will have to pay the consequences. I'm not sure she really was going to throw it out as even as she was yelling at him for getting gum on it, she was frantically trying to clean it off for him.

My mother had a rule about no inside toys being taken outside. If we broke the rule, regardless of what the toy was, it had to stay outside because she did not want bugs and dirt being tracked back into the house on the toys. If a toy was too dirty or broken to be played with anymore, as determined by my mother, it was thrown out, to teach us the lesson of taking care of our belongings and not being careless with them.

Which one is Beth? Is Beth married to Kate's brother?

I am confused with all of these people.

Aunt Jody is married to Kate's brother, Kevin.

Beth was a feeding volunteer from when the little ones were first born, she also helped co-write J&K's book.

Well, there’s nothing wrong with a well deserved vacation, unless you consider how many a well deserved vacations they’ve gotten just in the last year or so. New York for American Girls for the twins birthday, Disney World, the Ski trip, going to the Oprah show, and Jon & Kate’s trip to get his hair transplant. Who knows, there may be many more trips that have been taken that don’t make the show.

Now, the real question is how many people do you know that get to take that many vacations or rather that can afford to take that many vacations? And, how obvious do Jon & Kate make it that everything they get and do, they could never afford on their own?

Here is the issue with the gum. The children lied about being able to chew gum at home. jodi asked if they are allowed to chew gum at home, if mommy and daddy let them. They said yes. Kate is simply trying to teach them the consequence of lying about something AND about taking care of their belongings. Like mentioned, she was frantically cleaning the toy as she said it. And how else do you expect to be heard with screaming kids other than to bring your voice up a notch or two on the volume. I personally wouldn't say she was yelling, she wasn't in his face screaming bloody murder. She was loudly making sure that she was being heard that the toy would meet the trash. If you don't teach your kids that lying and destroying things isn't right then they will grow up to think that they can lie or break things...she was just trying to teach him right from wrong. I think she should have calmly took him aside and said, "I will try to get the gum out, but if it doesn't come clean it will go in the garbage. Next time you shouldn't lie to Aunt Jodi and need to take care of your toys." Something like that, maybe changing a few words to make him understand.

Well everyone is getting of the subject!I don't think Kate was directing that comment at Beth, because Beth DOES NOT love them for WHAT they are. If you watch closely she has a relationship with all of them and loves each of them personally. The question wasn't about about the gum feasco or about Aunt Jody. Hope this Helps!
