I think this show is getting better. People had some good points in the beginning about the host being too dramatic and the plots being a bit iffy, but those things seem to be sort of ironing themselves out. I've really enjoyed the past few episodes. I love history, but the archaeology part has always seemed a little bit unreliable to me, like everything is a complete guess and nobody really knows anything about these ancient cultures. I think the fascinating thing about this show is that it shows how much they actually can know about an ancient person's life based on real science (soil samples, bone formation, etc.). But it also shows how archaeologists do have to make educated guesses about things. I know some people have made comments about the show being "dumbed-down", but I for one appreciate that. I really was clueless about what archaeologists do, so I like that they explain things, even sort of obvious things, in ways that a clueless person can understand. I like the show, and I hope they keep filming it.
I guess I don't see a change in the show. The resulting story at the end of each episode is still based on little fact. If the show spent more time talking to the experts, asking why they made certain judgements or how they do things, then the show would be good. As it is, we have a host who is determined to solve a mystery and doesn't seem to understand how to do so. I'll probably keep watching, but may find keeper episodes few and far between.

And my daughter and I totally agree with you! Each new episode is a little better than the one before it, in every conceivable way--a credit to both Scotty AND the team behind the production of the show!
