Howdy Mike - I have an Idea for you! A dirty job that smells amazing...it will even make you cry a bit! I'm talking about onions. New Mexico State University has an Onion Breeding Program that consists of planting, weeding, crop maintenance (muddy), bulb research (chopping onions), sorting and selecting onions (rotten onions), and planting seeds. During the right time of the season, 50 pound bags of rotten onions are sorted to determine which bulbs are chosen to replant for next years crop. Some are rotting, and some have friendly little critters along for the ride. Crop maintenance includes muddy fields that are walked through to get the onions harvested. Onions that have the perfect bulls-eye round layers are desirable and researchers must cut hundreds of onions to find the perfect ones. This facility is located on the Fabian Garcia Science center apart of the NMSU land grant. The director of the Onion Research program is Dr. Cramer of the Agricultural department of New Mexico State University is in Las Cruces, NM. MMMmm, I could go for some onion rings right now!

The best job in the world, A Middle School Teacher in Albuquerque!! Come on Mike, dare to enter the realm of middle school (again) where hormones are running on a second by second basis, students are misbehaving daily, grading papers is a very dirty job, you must try to keep up with disruptions, tardies, absentees, testing, and on top, 60 personalities to juggle for 183 days total!!! Do I even have to mention the 60 parents to answer to? You may not get physically dirty, but mentally dirty for sure!!!

Hey Mike, I am from SC and enjoyed all of the shows you have done here, like the Shrimping boat near Charleston. I am a emergency first responder (police) and had the opportunity to attend a bomb training class in Socorro, New Mexico. The class was paid for by Homeland Security and included airfare, hotel and rental car. The class was also in cooperation with New Mexico Tech University (EMRTC). The class allows first resonders to identify and recognize explosives. We got to go out to the bomb range near Soccoro, NM and see and hear what explosives look and sound like as well as there distructive forces. Very good training. These insturctors and employees of the New Mexico Tech were absolutely great! They really know their bombs! At the end of the class we as a class made a 500 lbs car bomb and blasted a Subaru GL wagon to kingdom come along with a building that they constructed for us to blow up. They build this building week after week and blow it up hundreds of times. I am sure that continuously building these buildings to blow up and setting up all of these cool explosives is a "Dirty Job". Check it out here: http://respond.emrtc.nmt.edu/irtbdesc.php

Hi, How about working in a medical lab. In microbiology departments, labs check for eggs, parasites, bacteria overgrowing or growing in the wrong places. Stool, urine, blood, and occasionally emesis samples are examined. It's all part of making sure the human body is in a correct state, and assisting doctors in diagnosing ailments.

dani61 Junior Member Posted 02-25-08 12:18 AM How about an auto mechanic? My husband is the owner/mechanic at St. Michael's Chevron in Santa Fe, NM and I can attest to the fact that it's a dirty job! It's greasy, oily, smelly, and it busts your knuckles. Thanks for your consideration!

Ok I would like to throw in "Hauling Bees" Sounds simple enough. My brother hauls them all over the western states from SD-CA. Most hauls have about 700 hives of 25,000 bees or so. It is a handfull to say the least. (they hate seeing him entering a truckstop ) He could hook you up with the keepers too and what they go through to get honey. Think it would be nice show. The company is ISI Livestock out of Bernalillo NM

We will be burning grassland and one that is juniper they should be fun. Good luck
My family are avid fans, my kids say Dirty Jobs is their favorite show.

Cleaning the inside and outside of cars A Touch of Magic Rio Rancho New Mexico 505-514-2947
Hello, i have a job for you, detailing a car, IE cleaning the whole car inside and out. And it is GAURANTEED to be dirty. And the best part is your not dealing with industreal dirt, your dealing with other peoples dirt!!!!! Sometimes you'll get a nifty surprise, like the owner has a baby that puked or pooped all over the seat or carpet(and they don't tell you). And i can almost gaurantee you that you will be leaving at the end of the day with black streaks all over you. I get it every day. After doing this so long you get semi-perminent black marks all over you.

Hi my name is Eric. I am a student at UNM and i work at the New Mexico Medical Investigators Office (NMOMI). I am a Morphology Technician and work with pathologists performing autopsies. Our office does all the autopsies in the state of New Mexico. Whenever a suspicious death occurs it is checked out by investigators and then brought in. During autopsies my job is to cut open the body and head (with stryker saw) and remove all the organs including the brain which are then dissected by a pathologist. We recover anything of interest (bullets, etc) and study any injuries or defects. Lots of blood, fat, body fluids, poo, etc...doesn't get much dirtier!!! http://omi.unm.edu/Eric

Wildland Firefighter, US Forest Service, Santa Fe National Forest, Santa Fe Helitack, Los Alamos, NM. Nothing like working on a forest fire, digging in the dirt, cutting line, running saws, brushing, dragging hose, working with air tankers and helicopters, all while a wildfire rages nearby. Then when it is over, digging through the Ash and burned out areas making sure that everything is cold and out. A dirty job...

I used to work at the PRIN+MATE RESEARCH FACILITY ON HOLOAMN AFB near ALAMAGORDO NM. I made a previous post but maybe did it wrong. Thgis is about the nastiest job I can think of. As an animal handler tecniician, you are subjected to to being bitten, peed on, poo thrown on you, screaming and incredible bouts of fights with primates. Daily you feed, tube ( dose with drugs) and clean cages for these primates squeezed into hundreds of small cages. We called ourselves "simian $hit shovelres). The job leaves you covered with all kinds of stuff, stinkin and exhausted at the days end, bitten, and sometin=mesd very dejected from having accidentally lunging ( dose in the lungs from tubing) a poor fellow and killing them. While I no longer work thewre this might make a very interesting show- and the research is testing drugs, cosmetics and various chemicazls on the simians. Chimpanzees are also bred here and the program for them is extremely interesting. Holloman AFB, New Mexico, USA
Alamogordo Primate Facility, Intramural, NIH (Established 2001) PO Box 956 , Holloman AFB , New Mexico 88330 USA Director: Dr. Rick Lee, DVM Phone: 505-679-3800 Affiliations: Charles River Laboratories

Hello there, Although not "dirty" in the typical filth and spoilage sense, I have an idea for the show. I am a member of a truly bad*** women's hockey team in Pueblo, Colorado. Our team members range in age from 19 to 60. Our roster includes many moms, doctors, distinguished Iraqi war veterans, artists, writers, police officers, housewives, competitive quilters, bank executives and Spartanly spirited co-eds. Our beloved coach, as so many before her, has the incredibly "dirty" job of orchestrating the spiraling rage of 25 wild-eyed women desperate for blood, into an arthritic and effective symphony of soft-handed puck juggling ice gladiators, born to reveal no mercy. WE ARE THE LITTLE CAESARS. Yes, we stink-truly funk up the ice in a cloister of giggles, lipstick and chaos. So what? We are mostly middle-aged women with minimally detectable athletic ability, who voluntarily participate with absolute soul-deep commitment, in the most profoundly terminally testosterone-infected activity of all time. We kick bootae! Come join!!!! “Colorado is SO lovely this time of year!!!” said the spider to the TOTAL hottie chiseled fly. P.S. The real “dirt” spills abundant in the locker room, Mikey…We’ll be waiting…

Hey Mike you need to get dirty doing some good old fashioned cowboy work! NM is famous for it's beef industry, and there are plenty of ranches to choose from!
Also what about the dairy industry? Roswell has some great dairys to choose from.
And yet another one, what about some of the miniature horse breeders? Geeze you get to clean pens, worm, trim feet, body clip, and work with training them. Not to mention the breeding and foaling aspects of it. Tons to choose from!

This could probably be done in any state you choose, but my idea is for Mike to clean up some really nasty movie theater floors. I don't work for them, but I sure step on a lot of gunk when I go to them. Good Luck, Mike!

LT Weezie Junior Member Posted 04-19-08 02:08 PM Hi Mike and crew! The first week in October, a uniquely New Mexican event occurs! The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta! The event runs this year from October 4th to the 12th. Our balloon, Kolibri, is waiting for you to join our crew and help her take fight! Crewing for a hot air balloon is not as glamorous as pig farming or crawling through a sewer, but you do have the high possibility of getting dusty, muddy, sweaty and covered in goat's heads. You will be guaranteed an early wake up call, and be expected to do a lot of lifting! You can expect to do a lot of "hurrying up and standing around." But one of the benefits is getting dirty eating the traditional "original" breakfast burrito (the origins started in Santa Fe and the first Fiesta) and cinnamon rolls. After the recovery, you enjoy a toast of Champagne (and Propane) the Breakfast of Champions! If you crew with us, you also get free rides! Come and join Captain John and crew and soar to the heights with us and KOLIBRI! John and Louise - NM
