NEBRASKA Please include job title, company/organization, city, etc. Must be a specific job, and not theoretical ("plumber" vs. "pipe fitter, Pipe City Plumbers, Silver Spring, NE"). Nebraska ideas only.
I got one. it could be a whole show... Lets have mike build a Cobra replica. Fiberglass to frame to body to the finish work. And of course the obligatory test drive. Rich Anderson (owner) might be up for the challenge..er. priveledge of doing a dirty job for Mike. Check out http://www.shellvalley.com/. They do it all. Columbus and Platte Center NE.
Why not NE. This place is just an hour away from Blair NE which has the largest Viper dealership in the world owned by Bob Woodhouse.
wanna get real nasty go to the farm. I am a farmer/owner/operater. I work on a large family farm in mid-west Nebraska. I have many disgusting jobs to share with you. here's the list 1. In the summer i have to dig out pivots and walk into a hot cornfield and get covered in bugs ,mud, lots of humidity, and a sweltering heat that can make it unbearable to be there. 2.in the fall i clean out a series of pits full of rotten corn, sludge, and water. This occurs 20 feet below ground level. 3. if you want to preg check a cow we do that in January/February. this involves putting your entire arm up the cow's rear to check for a calf. 4.and the last nasty thing I can think of is cleaning out the cattle trailers. I will bring you down and let the hose loose on a crap laden trailer. there are many other jobs i do that are dirty but i do so many of them i can't think of any more that are specific. and if you are wanting some extra film material i can introduce you to some other companies nearby that can make you gag.
a rendering truck (dead animal hauling) grain elevator cleaning(lots of dust) concrete delivery truck (annual cleaning is real bad) cattle pen cleaning(local feedlot) anything our local large animal vet has to offer my e-mail address is samiam-inc@hotmail.com my phone number is 308-991-0673 don't worry about a hotel when you come because my parents run a bed and breakfast.
There's always paving with an asphalt crew -- Omni Engineering (US Asphalt) in Omaha, NE. You can chat with one of the plant operators too.
Or you could do something that is done every day several thousand times and bus tables at a restaurant.. say.. the Upstream Brewing company in Omaha, NE. Heck, even tend bar there.. or something else...
My dad works for a company that empties hog, cattle, and other lagoons of manure and waste water. They use hoses and big pumps to move the liquid from the lagoon to the field where they inject it into the ground as fertilizer. When everything works out it is a very clean job; but when a hose breaks or springs a leak it gets very messy very fast. Think of it as a lawn hose springing a leak; a garden hose is usually ½ inch or so. At Lind & Gubbels, they use 5 to 8 inch hoses under greater pressure, so the chances of something going wrong is very high; especially since they are dragging the hoses while injecting it into the fields, thus wearing the hoses thin.
Two of my kids work for Diversified foods in Nebraska City. They have both worked in the chicken gizzard grinding room, where gizzards are ground to be mixed with other ingredients to make Popeye's restaurant cajun beef. They tell me it's pretty disgusting, especially the smell.
Sprinkler Installer; Mike Combs Irrigation, Lincoln, NE
Mike has never come home clean, he spends all day digging and working in dirt. He owns his own business, and has a hard time keeping employees full time because the work is so dirty and so exhausting. As a dirty jobs fan, I can slightly grasp the concept of what makes a good segment, and between Mike's personality and the dirty nature of his work, it may just work.
hi mike, i think it's time for you to come to small town nebraska to see what dirty is all about. a fellow coworkers husband is a diesel mechanic which in and of itself is dirty enough but one of the most favorite parts of the job is when he has to work on the "turd hearse." There are very few things out there more disgusting than working on a machine covered in oil and other drippy, messy fluids than having poo dripping into your face. while you're here, there are so many more things we could show you. we have a manufacturing plant which make rubber parts. everyone always leave there covered in black rubber. (it just shows off your pearly whites when you smile). If you came in june our green city could show you quite a good time at our local festival
I have two ideas. They are across the street from one another so you've got two show ideas in one block... :-)
In Fremont, NE you have Hormel pig processing plant. I think it is on S. Platte Ave right at the railroad tracks. The second one is a blood processing plant. I think the name is AMPC. The address is 900 E Factory St. They process cow blood and do some stuff to get protein for different human edibles.
I think either of these would be very intriguing and most fun to watch!!!
how about water tower maintenance. very dirty sandblasting, painting ,welding and other dirty jobs and most done high off the ground. plattsmouth ne lfw and baburek
There is no better way for Mike to experience "the good life" than for him help us out to put on a rodeo production. The job includes many aspects (including various dirty jobs) such as physically pushing rodeo stock compete with steers and calves into allies (watch out for those kicks), preparing the grounds (gets a little dusty), feeding bulls and broncs, cleaning out the stock trailors (yes that means manure), opening the gates for ruff stock events, to even having Mike sit in the barrel during the bull riding event..watch out!!
The annual rodeo takes place in Bertrand, NE around the end of June. We are proud that our little town has produced the best small mid-states rodeo in 2 out of the last 3 years, and would be even more honored if Mike could help us get that honor for a second year in row.
The main office is in Glenvil, NE but I work in the York, NE crew (the best crew around) in the summer. We detassel from mid July to early August. Depending on the weather the day before it can range from dusty to muddy to flooded.
btom Junior Member Posted 02-13-08 01:13 AM Meet with Gerado Talero at the City Waste Water Treatment Plant at 4:30 A.M. and go directly to the closest dairy to check the effluent coming from the dairy. Best done during the cool or winter months for effect. Don't turn your lights on until at the location for setting up the sampling equipment, take some water samples and follow it through the analysis process. Say hello to Gerardo from Tom
