Or, at least we can keep them well-occupied.
Disclosure: I *used* to write content for what I'm about to post.
GM invests a great amount of time and effort in creating children's resources on future fuels, technology, and things like the Skateboard seen in today's episode of FutureCar.
Check this out -- they have a one-pager that can be printed so that kids can design their own car or truck for the skateboard chassis. Here's a link: http://www.gm.com/company/gmability/edu_k-12/k-4/energy/futurecar.pdf
There's also lots of information in the section for grades 5-8 on virtual design. The SSR screens in tonight's episode are explained here: http://www.gm.com/company/gmability/edu_k-12/5-8/making_vehicles/ssr.html
See all of the stuff that will get students thinking about future cars here: www.gmability.com/education.

I'm only thirteen and I say, I could speak and write better than most members of this forum. I'm not saying this offensively, I just wanted to point out to anyone that would try to bring a child down that they should remember: Children are only ONE step behind adults. Take a kid and a quantum physicist. The only thing the Quantum physicist has is the experience. After Eighteen the human mind stops absorbing information as well as a newborns. A child can learn over four languages before hitting puberty if they are influenced and committed to it. But I agree with future man from what I understand from his post, if children were able to at least OFFER their idea(s) to professionals then we could have some better tools and such around.

Children do not have the knowledge or skills to desighn cars. The car has so many parts that it is near immpossible to understand it. Children will just be a nucience.
