I'm a student at North Carolina State University in the College of Textiles. We have an underground facility full of high-technology yarn spinning, fiber manufacturing equipment. Most of which operates under VERY high speeds and is very very interesting how precise and quickly it all runs.
An example of some of the machinery is a water-jet loom which uses water to shoot yarn back and forth along the fill direction of woven fabric to weave at high speeds (as opposed to a traditional shuttle loom). We also have spinning equipment (spinning polymer fibers, synthetic fibers).
Most anything you could think of we've got. It's a great facility and I could talk with the dean about having Time Warp come take a visit and show what's really going on with this machinery to the general public.
