I just watched this episode and they left the homeowners dog in his cage during the break in. That poor dog shouldn't have been subjected to the trauma of having his house invaded like that. He was terrorized for no reason at all. How could the homeowners have subjected their pet to this? It would be bad enough if this had been real, but this was done strictly for TV. I am shocked that the network aired this at all. I feel sorry for the poor dog. I hope that the owners, the network, and the viewers all decide that the welfare of our animals is just as important as the welfare of our family, and that they remove the homeowners pets during these mock break-ins.
I sincerely hope that this forum is monitored by someone from the discovery channel. This is unacceptable programming that could have been avoided.
I have watched numerous episodes and have never witnessed a pet get "terrorized". The dog was not harmed nor was it teased or tortured. They make an attempt to try to keep things as realistic as possible in the show and want the owners/people such as yourself to get worked up and have a reaction in order to fix things for real life situations.
My opinion this dog had it made living inside the house. Could you imagine the trauma of being chained up outside in the environment dealing with the daily stresses of what mother nature brings OMG. Besides, if it were me I would have stolen the dog.
Out of the half dozen episodes I've seen that included dogs, the most striking thing to me was how none of them put up much of a fight. Either they ran away, or Jon gave them a treat and the dog went to another room.
i am dogowner and didn't think anything at all was wrong with the dog being put in its crate. i was much more upset by the episode where jon put the dog out the front door!! my dogs probably would have taken off down the road if they were put out front off leash. i have 2 dogs - 1 large 1 small, and i cant imagine them being a problem to any burglar. they bark alot but are much too friendly to be any sort of guard dogs. the big one is scary looking and sounds terrifying, but pat his head and he's a pushover. people should never consider thier dog to be a deterrent or guardian unless they are specifically trained to be such. otherwise, they are just another valuable to be lost.
Are you kidding me? A dog gets locked in a cage and you're crying about it? There is so much more worse animal abuse taking place in the world and this is what you've focused your attention on.
