Bobbie, my beagle, isnt potty trained. we tried for years, and she just wouldnt do it, if we dont watch her, she poops and pees EVERYWHERE. she also is WAY over weight, and gets into the trash can, spreading the trash everywhere. She smells so bad that when we give her a bath, she still smells. She barks when we put her outside so much that the neighbors called the cops on us. we've tried every shock collar, and she just seems to get used to them. We've had to resort to locking her in a cage at night and when we eat, and she cries in it ALL night, LITERALLY! im loosing SO much sleep, im 15, and i need sleep. Shes a beagle, so she loves to dig, and shes dug so many holes that at one point she tore something in her leg and we had to rush her to the vet. She keeps getting out, and im worried she'll get hit by a car or run away. And to sum it up, she runs from me, and only me, when i try to put her outside or in her cage. She listens to everyone else, but when i try to care for her, she ignores me. i dont wanna give her up, but shes the WORST dog in the WORLD. i need help!!! PLEASE!

First of all, it sounds like she's a bit bored. Beagles are energetic little dogs. How many walks are you taking her for? Digging can be a part of boredom as well. Don't let her get to the point where she wants to dig.
If she gets in the trash can put the trash can in a spot she can't get it. It's hard to teach dogs to stay away from trash cans.
How much and what do you feed her? And what do you feed her? You may need to change her to a higher quality food, or even feed her less. Exercise will really help a lot with her weight problem.
Maybe she needs a special medicated bath? She could be having skin problems if she still smells after a bath. You should take her to the vet.
Also, work on basic commands with her. Especially if she won't come to you. She'll respect you some more after you spend some more time training her.
As for the getting out of the house, sounds like another case of not enough exercise. But if she is getting out never let her around an open door, beagles are good at getting lost.
Hasn't been house trained for years? Either she has a medical problem or you're not doing something right. How are you potty training her?
Believe it or not, all of this stuff can easily be fixed. There's no reason to take her to the animal shelter, it will only stress her out more. More information to the question I asked would be great. And take that dog for long, long walks a couple times a day! Tire her out! Then when nighttime comes around, she'll be too tired to open her mouth to bark.

we basically just let her outside every other hour. When she cries a lot, because we have to keep her in the kitchen unless we watch her, then we let her outside. but she wont come to us if we let her wander, she'll just go where ever. And we feed her once a day. usually in the afternoon becuase she likes to sleep all morning.

Alright, you'll have to change your routine some.
First, feed her twice a day. Half in the morning, half at night. How much are you feeding her? My beagle mix gets a cup of food a day. But it all depends on the dog's size, age, metabolism, energy level.
Second, get a leash and tie your dog to you. This way, she'll never be out of your sight, and she'll learn to follow you around. Take her out A LOT. Keep a schedule and go outside with her on that schedule for her to go potty. Every time she goes potty give her a ton of treats and shower her with praise. good potty! She won't always go when you go outside with her, that's when a walk will come in handy. Dogs mark their territories on walks, she'll probably go a lot.
It's house training from square one. No more letting her outside by herself. Someone is always to follow her out there. Again, start taking that dog for walks. Every single day for at least twice a day. When house training my beagle mix I took her for several mini walks a day. It really helps.
Now you have to work on 'come' with her. Never call her over when she does something bad. Get a little pouch and put dog treats in them, carry them around with you constantly. When you tell her to come show her the dog treat, when she comes, give her the treat and praise her. For my dogs, I don't even have to say 'come.' I just shout 'doggy treat!' and they come running looking for something tasty.
This is all pretty basic stuff. Also, why not get a rubber kong? Fill it with peanut butter and treats and give it to her. Sometimes I even freeze it. It keeps dog busy for a long time and she won't be barking because she'll be having so much fun.

Booalu, You have a big job. Why? You are 15 years old and have a school to attend. It sounds like your dog is not on your schedule. Do you have help at home when you are at school? If you do not have help at home while you are in school you will have to make big adjustments. When you get up in the morning, slip on you shoes and take the dog out on leash immediately! You need a key word to use like "go pee or go potty". You need to figure about 10 mins-15 mins. If dog goes potty any sooner give big PRAISE!. Bring dog in and make yourself and the dog breakfast. As recommended previously feed dog a small portion twice a day. Possibly a half cup for breakfast. Then you both eat together. Keep the dog on the leash and with you as you get ready for school. You are looking for any signals from the dog that it's potty time again. When you finish getting ready for school take dog outside again. You need to allow 15 mins for dog to be outside and not be late for school. Dogs need to go outside 7 times a day. If nobody is at home you will need to crate the dog.try to leave a tog and 1 treat when placing dog in crate. Beagles will howl that's what they do. Howling when in the crate means dog is not happy. Therefore, start crate training on a weekend when you are home. Place dog in crate for maybe 5 mins then take her out (any short time before dog howls). Gradually increase the time the dog will be in the crate and try to let her out before dog howls. When you come home from school, first thing place dog on leash and take dog outside for potty. Do that always, it will take a while but dog should get the routine. If successful, give dog 1 treat. When you bring the dog in, keep the dog on the leash and possibly hook the leash to your belt. You are looking for signals from the dog that it's potty time, while you try to do homework or whatever. Playing a video game or text messaging is no excuse not to take the dog out! An overweight dog can smell. An overweight dog that gets in the garbage can smell. With the dog on the leash and attached to your belt some of that problem should go away by staying out of the garbage. Walking the dog as much as possible is good on all levels. It helps the dog lose weight. It helps tire out the dog so it will sleep when in the crate. Doing the walking will keep the dog from digging and the digging is probably adding to the smell. Make sure other family members are not giving dog table food between meals. Now, did you ever consider taking a shower with your dog? Yes, you and the dog in the shower at the same time. No, you do not have to tell your friends at school that you shower with the dog.you and the dog in the shower would be like the two of you going for a walk in the rain. Anyway, a wet dog smells bad. Therefore you need to towel the dog briskly. Also do not shower the dog everyday dogs are not people. An overweight beagle in the hot summer will smell bad. You need to make these changes before the summer. Like I said a lot of work for a 15 year old.

It's not impossible though, bocch. My beagle mix I was house training during the winter time and going to school. She was having a billion different behavior problems at the time. It will be difficult. But by no means impossible if you truly love your dog and are trying your best!

A.) I had a beagle once and she was an inside dog. We could only bathe her once b/c she stank so bad. I think if you do more research on the breed and ask other people that own beagles what they use, then use that type of shampoo. Also, they have different variations of shampoo's for dogs now. B.) NO dog is the worst, ever. C.) Go to Victoria Stillwell's official dog sight or the one here on animal planet. Also, pick up dog "potty-training" books at your local library or bookstore and research more on it online. Hope it helps!!

Aslo, about her eating habits. If you need help with changing it, I asked a similar question on this forum. Just look for it, okay. Hope it helps!!
