we have a two year old great dane and we live in a condo. The dog is well potty trained but lately has avoided going outside at all costs which normally results in him peeing inside the house. When we finally are able to get him out he is so scared that he can't poop. Today he finally pooped in the house after about three days of not going. It was black and smelled horrible because it had been in his system for so long. I know that its not good for him but I don't know what to do to help him be more comfortable outside. Right now because it is warm outside there are a lot of kids in the pool screaming and running around. I know thats what's scaring him and nothing will convince him to go out not even his favorite treats. PLEASE HELP!!!

Can you get him into a car? If you can get him into a car then look for an area (like a parking lot), a corner spot where the dog will see some people activity but is not near them. See if he eliminates. After that do heel training.
When heel training, talk to dog in happy voice.
Keep him at your left side always. When you stop walking make him go into a sit.
Why? You are giving the dog confidence when you heel train. You are letting the dog know where you want him and how you want him to act. When the dog does this you are praising him. Consistency helps with dog behavior.
After good heel training eventually move to a more busy area of parking lot. However, if people come up to pet him do not let them. Tell the people that your dog is in training or lie and say he might bite.
Next bring him to different parking lot or park that has some activity.
As you can see you are gradually getting the dog used to activity. When he eliminates in the outside praise.

Hi i have a 2 year old spayed Great Pyrenees. Weve had her since October of last year. She is MORTIFIED of storms, and thus has started peeing in the house and especially on my childrens bed. She shakes from head to toe and pant uncontrollably. We have tried to calm her, but the peeing is tearing our family apart. She is TERRIFIED to go outside, we try to make it a pleasant experience. But NOTHING, she hides under the BBQ all night. We can't let her sleep in the house as she will just pee - HELP!!!!

Did you adopt your Great Pyrenees? Something, involving storms, could have happened to her during a critical socialization period of her life around 7-12 weeks of age. You might have to consult your vet about this situation because she might have to go on some medication. You can try to distract her by teaching her simple cues and just praise her when she isn't shaking. Let me know if this works
