If it is toward you practice the take it leave it commands you have to show who is the dominate one in this situation first teach the leave it command first because the dog will relize that it is your food but you are shareing it with him and he is not aloud to touch it until you say so. the take it command gives him the ok that he is aloud to have it when you do this don't show any fear if he growls or his hackels ( the hair on their back) if this occurs put the food on a counter till he calms down once he does take it back out and repeat make sure you are relaxed and hold it in front of you not above you I hope this helps

We have a boxer mix and she is very jealous of other dogs when we try to pet them. We want to get her another playmate, but are afraid she will hurt the dog if pet the dog in front of her. How can we have her understand that we love her as well as the new playmate?

Most dogs will act that way but once they are in the house together for a while the will learn to like eachother just remember that when you do something with the new dog do it with her too or it will get worse she will learn to relize that you still love her my dogs are exactly like that just when she acts good around the dog when you pet it give her a treat this will most likely help.

my dog has fear aggression towarsd other dogs. He is fine with our two other dogs but has high anxiety with other dogs. When our friends bring their dogs over to play he will either keep to himself and hide upstairs, or he will lift his lip, growl and then even snap at them if they get too close to him. If they keep their distance he is calm. Can you help? We would like to start fostering but not if we can't seem to stop him. When all the dogs play together he just hides and seems miseraable. It's so sad.

for the fear aggresion he isn't really aressive he is scared and trying to act like hes not this may help when he snaps or does something in that category remove him from the room for like 2 minutes then bring him back make sure you give him a treat if he acts good around new dogs this will show there is nothing to be afriad of hope that helps
for the new puppy make sure you let it out ALOT and make sure dangerous objects from its reach also get some hard chew toys for it so that there is no chewing on furniture
for the teeth brushing if you can't get to his teeth at all then you might want to condider useing a groomer but to hold off from haveing to do this so often get some denti bones they help clean teath but try to make teeth brushing a positive thing by giveing his a treat after you do one stroke eventually he will relize that brushing teeth is fun I hope that helps you

hi most dogs will bark because they havent been taught otherwise not to put a leash on the dog and stand at the door and get someone to go outside and ring the door bell yank the leash a bit when they bark and when they stop give them a treat soon they will relize barking results with a tug of the leash and silence will result in treats remember you have to stick with the training or they will contiue barking hope that helps

Really good advice, DogHandler666! =)
I have some advice for puppy training, if I'm allowed to. Make sure your puppy knows that the crate or cage is like her den, a place where she can go if she is scared or wants to get away from something. Don't associate the crate with bad things, like don't put her in her crate if she has done something wrong. If she bites to hard during play or just bites our of scardom, you don't want yo hit her on the nose, for if you do so, when she gets older and more mature, she will bite you when you try to pet her head, thinking you want to hit her. So if she does bite, just say Ouch! loud or yelp like one of her siblings would, then leave the room and don't give her any attention for about ten seconds, then come back and play with her.

Thanks, and of course you can say something, anyone can. Its best to get more than one oppinion from trainers so you learn more ways to train ,and that is great advice I would have never thought of saying that. I just started this forum just to help people out when of need of help. It gives me something to do since I'm out of high school for the summer lol.

Thanks, What you can do is put them on a leash ,and have LOTS of treats with you. Do this one dog at a time. Stand in front of them ,and look at your dog and call their name so they know you have a treat in your hands the, treats will distract them from barking. Eventually they will think no barking equals treats now about the pit bull if its your neighbors dog it should always be on a leash because of the leash law I hope that helps you.

No problem thanks, and yes I have wanted to train dogs since I was five. I want to train dogs in the marine corps. though. I started the major dog training with my pit bull mabel I taught her in german and english ,and I want to teach her to bring me items. I also worked with the micheal vick dogs they were very sweet dogs lol.

Thanks doghandler. I will tell you how progress is! Somtimes my neighbor puts a leash on his dog but I've only seen it once with a leash. The dog is outside with his owner all the time and it doesn't even have a collar on!The owner holds it by the fat on its neck if someone walks by. He does everything with his dog too he does laundry with it he fixes his car with it! The dog just walks behind him and he doesn't even pay attention to it! The reason i'm so scared is because a couple months ago my jack russel got attacked by one but it wasn't the same pitbull he got attacked twice! The second time the pitbull bit my mom! Thank you!

When it comes to the bathroom part ,always take him out before you put him in there. It is probrably seperation anxiety ,most dogs that are afraid of their owner leaving will pee any where expesially in the kennel. What you do is put him in the cage while your home ,and leave for ten seconds. Then come back ,and if he didn't do anything give him a treat ,and praise him. Eventually he will relize you leaveing isn't bad at all. Slowly extend the time period, the reason why you leave for 10 seconds is becuase dogs have short term memory ,and 10 seconds to them is an hour well hope that helps you.

Ok cool, I know that a pit bull attacked your jack russel ,but make sure you relize they aren't bad dogs at all. They only do what they are trained to dog or what ever protects them from getting hurt. most of the time when they bite is either because they are scared and protecting themselves or are protecting their master. The reason why I am telling you this is because They are one of the most misunderstood breeds and they need people to take up for them and represent them. When it comes to your neighbor have a talk with him and tell him that it is illegal to have a dog off leash and you want to make sure that you are keeping others safe just in case it gets a idea in its head. But remember pit bulls are VERY sweet dogs I would know I worked withe the Micheal Vick dogs and have one pit bull for myself.
