We have a shepherd, great perenese, lab mix and were having trouble with potty training to where we can't even trust her inside at all because once our eyes are off of her for 2 sec and i mean literally 2 sec turning are head and turning our head back around she pees! We've tried everything, we have her outside all day every day, and only give her 2 bowls of water a day not after 6 and sometimes she sleeps in her kennel and we also put her nose in it and tell her no and she knows its wrong, but we would like to have her in the house more but what can we do? any advice?

Hi, I have a 12-year-old dachshund and a 4-year-old mixed terrier breed that bark like crazy when they hear someone at the door, and when the person comes in, they won't stop jumping on them. Any tips on how to restore the peace?

try sound adversion. like say you make a certain noise that isnt going to be appealing to them two sec after they jump or bark and then as soon as they stop praise them with their favorite treat or chicken. And let the people who come over know to first stand as they come in and turn away when they jump or bark, and make sure when you make the sound not to look them in the eye associating you with the sound. And then if they jump on them when they sit down, have them stand up right away or put them on the ground while making that horrible noise right away, and then praising them after they are down. you might want to try some practices with friends and family first until they get used to it and you don't have to use the sound adversion anymore or less. try banging two pots together or saying in a loud deep voice ah-ah which is hard to say over the internet or explain but try watching its me or the dog on animal planet in the morning with trainer victoria because she deals with that a lot on her show and gives great tips

Have you given him a treat if he tries? Maybe you could go to one of those training classed that teach your dog tricks.

Biting. I need some help. My dog likes to steal socks, etc. Today, my husband and I caught her and tried to take it from her (laid her on her back, and I blew in her ear to get her to release), she bit me on the face. This is a first. She normally growls (which I also don't find acceptable), but this really escalated. My last dog was very gentle and I never had to resort to such handling. This one is the opposite, and I just don't know what to do. I'm sure I'm doing some thing (or multiple things) wrong.

ok well I'm not an expert but I would say take her to a training class. And when she bites you say "NO" and leave the room for a few minutes, you may want to do this a few times.

Good Luck.

I have a 18 month male Rottie we adopted from a Rottie Rescue foundation and we are having a HUGE problem with clipping his nails. We've had him since January and have had a trainer since then to work out some of his issues. He has made alot of improvement but not with his nails. We do shake and hold his paws a little longer and we also rub his paws throughout the day but not to much - nothing is working. Unfortunately we had to sedate him to get his nails clipped and I refuse to do that again, we order the "peticure" hoping this will work but is has not come in the mail yet. If anyone has any suggestions I am open to them. Einstein has a very stong bond with me so I think he will let me try more things because of it. Any help will be greatly appreciated!!!

Well maybe you should have the vet do it. And what does he do when you clip them?

I was wondering how to train my chihuahua puppy to come inside after being let out to go potty! He runs away like he wants to play and you cant catch him and he does this every time you go out to get him. He thinks its a game I guess. I have tried to get him to come in with treats, calling his name, and nothing works. If you chase him it makes it worse, he runs away even more hyper. I tried pretending to mind my business and walk casually trough the yard then snatching him up when he comes close. But it's like he knows so he don't come near me he still runs through the yard. He finally will come in 2 or 3 hours later but if you need to go anywhere it makes it hard to let him in so you can leave. Please help!!!

Um let me see...have you tried to give him a treat when he comes in? Like rewarding him for coming in, I'm really not sure what to tell you. Maybe when he goes out to go potty you should go with him, with a leash on him.

Good Luck!

HI
I have an 18 month old dog. He is really scared of children. He has never been aggressive but tries to run away from them. I'm afraid he might try to bite a child out of fear someday.

"She normally growls (which I also don't find acceptable), but this really escalated."

Growling or any signs of aggression should not be tolerated at all and need to be corrected immediately. She's biting so the correction should be pretty severe.

From what I've read aggression usually stems from lack of pack structure so to really fix the problem you'll need to establish your dominence in the relationship.

Have you tried an obidance class? I really don't know what to say cause I'm not an exprt, but maybe you should take her to an obidance class. And when kids are over or near have her in a sit-stay position. Like I said I'm not an exprt so I'm not sure If i'm suggesting the right thing but hope it helps.

Good Luck

I found a 5week old puppy ina box by a dumpster at a local park. i Now have had her for a week. ive gotten her routin down, so i know when to take her outside. she goes pee 5-10 minutes after she eats and/or drinks, and 10-15 minutes after she will potty. so ive been taking her outside. i went and got her a body harness and leash to start training her on a leash and i walk her to the end of the driveway and back, and every couple days ill make the walk a little longer.

i have never trained a dog before, so im doing what i think is right. but she wont stop chewing on her leash when i try to walk her, how do i get her to stop?
and while i try to walk her around, she will roam around, she doesnt smiff like most dogs, and she rather goes on the side walk, sometimes she will make it in the grass, how do i get her to realize the grass is her potty area?

she tends to bite just about everything, i got her some chew toys from petsmart, soft ones, hard ones, balls, and really tiny little chew bones. but she doesnt play with them. she chews everything else but her toys, and when i play with her i only touch the toys, and interact with her using the toys, and she still wont play with them what can i do about that?

how do i get her to stop eating the cats food? i trained my cat to never walk on the counters, but im having to put his food up there because of the puppy and the puppies food is in my room along with everything else that is hers.

i kno i have alot of questions, sorry, but idk who else to get information from...

also, with her kennel, well its more of a cat carrier, but i put her in when she is sleeping, and when she gets a little nervus, and i ignore her when she is yelping, when she stops i let her out. but she still doesnt realize thats her safe haven, she never goes in there on her own, and she wont stop yelping/barking after a few hours. and i feel bad for keeping her in there to long. am i doing that right or is there a easier way?

ive been trying to get her used to riding in the car with me, so when she goes to the doctors and taking her to the park, i want her to beable to ride in it with out freaking out, how do i train her to get in the car, and to not be afraid of being in it.? she doesnt potty in there, well so far she asnt. but she whimpers alot and walks around, and she likes to go lay by my feet under the peddels. so im constantly messing with her while driving.

and i know u train dogs, but how do i get my Cat to be around her? he freaks out and hisses and hits her, i want him to know that the puppy is not going to harm him. the puppy,(Nala-Amari) has no problem with the cat (Kilo).

and anything else you can think of would be greatly appreciated! sorry for the really long message :-D

o and im trying to get her to enteract with other dogs, but she is more amused my biting and playing with my feet then them. what can i do about that?

thank you,
Candy
