Im a huge fan of "GROWING UP GORILLA/WOLF/ELEPHANT etc " show. I was wondering , how can I volunteer to take care for those baby gorillas? Does anyone know how to get started?
Anyone who has a foot in the real world of helping animals can tell you that it is pretty far-fetched. Of course the babies are cute and cuddlie, but that is all that people want, then no one will tell you what happens when they grow up and no one wants them...
I have often wondered the same thing akima001. If you are really serious about doing such work, and it is definately "WORK", I would try sites such as http://bigcatrescue.org OR join BCRV. My heart is set, and my mind made up about doing such work, and my husband stands behind me 100%. If this is truly what you want to do, don't let anything stand in your way! I would love to find out how to go about finding a sanctuary or conservation park looking for such help. Nothing is going to stop me, don't let anything stop you either! GOOD LUCK! If you find anything out, please let me know too ok? Thanks!!! As for tiffanylayne, let me say this, the shows are REAL, it is not "far fetched". They are TRUE stories. Don't let that reply discourage you akima001.
The Cameroon Wildlife Aid Fund (CWAF) runs the sanctuary in "Growing up Gorilla," and does accept volunteers. Details are on their web site at www.cwaf.org. Check it out and good luck!
