I don't know if all this is fabricated or for real but lately it seems like everyone is whining and getting angry over little stuff. Reed is mad at Joel, Sean is mad at Reed, Sean is mad at Josh and Josh is mad at reed. It looks like things are heating up lol.
It looks like someone in production thinks interpersonal drama is the key to viewership and not the storms.
I hope that production person is very wrong and must learn from that mistake by focusing more on the weather than on the petty differences and personality disorders otherwise this show will just be another one of those miserable 'reality' shows available on so many other channels.
I have to agree with you zaphrella, it does seem like the show is focusing more on the drama than in previous seasons. I too hope that the show won't fall prey to the same trap so many "reality shows" that i never watch. You would think that severe weather and stormchasing are dramatic enough. Here is my first take on this shift of focus, id love to hear what you guys think... Watching the first 2 seasons, there was some "drama" between Sea/Josh's team, and the TVN team. I don't mind a little smack talk between the rival crews. They also showed Sean getting peeved with Josh, but it was mostly out of frustration more that dislike for one another. Does anyone else wonder why in season 1, 2 they never really showed problems between Reed and Joel. If you think about the fact that these guys are stuck in a vehicle for hours on end, waiting for the wind to blow just right. I actually like the guy he is entertaining, but he would get old after a long car ride Im sure. Why do you guys think this is the first time they are showing scenes like this?

At the very least the producers are encouraging them to act a certain way and are then doing some creative editing to enhance that behavior. Being more suspicious one might conclude that some of the behavior is scripted or setup. It seems a little strange that a camera crew just happened to be there when Joel arrived in person to have a little meltdown with Reed. Joel could have called and told Reed he wasn't chasing, but that wouldn't have been very dramatic. Further, Joel's complaints were not realistic given that the other teams went chasing the same day. And lastly, Joel couldn't even keep a straight face while he ripped on Reed.
What likely happened is that Joel had some other commitment and couldn't chase, but the producers had them crank up the drama for the camera.
Clearly the Discovery Channel doesn't understand their audience.
The show last night was terrible. I understand the drama of chasing, and the cutthroat business of meteorology, but I didn't tune into this show to watch some middle aged men whine like toddlers. "Give me the frequency Reed." "Maybe, maybe not"( sticks tongue out).I'm sick of seeing them act like children. I'm watching because I love meteorology and storm chasing, not to watch some respectable men moan to each other .Lost a viewer.
