I love the Discovery Channel!

Naturally, I was excited to see the series, and all the cool equipment.

Unfortunately, the first episode I saw was these characters trying to BACK UP through traffic, while the nimrod in the ("armored")turret said something to the effect of "hey, it's them or us, keep going."

Hey, these guys chose to dive into a storm with "armored" vehicles. If the local population is (rightfully) trying to get out of the way of the storm, GET OUT OF THEIR WAY !!!

I will not watch another episode of this "show"

Ahh...editing. The show certainly depicts us blocking the road. In reality we had let some people pass. The next group flashed their lights for us to continue ahead of them. Ronan the driver did not see this as it is hard to see things from inside of the TIV. I had a better advantage, hanging out of the the door. Also the road had pools of standing water. If we were to get stuck is ceratin spots then we truely would have blocked all traffic.

That's great Sean. Blame it on the editors. Fact is you said something to the effect of "it's them or us" .... "We had let some people pass' (what about the others?). And the driver could not see !!!! Time for a serious re-design, i.e. find another job!

Sean, I support you all the way! Sometimes roadblocks happen, it's not all your fault.

Such problems come with driving a 7 ton armored truck. It's not easy being a storm chaser from what I can see.

But I support you all the way!

hi sean, i also support you, i realise your argument and side with you. if you had stopped to let people go you most likly would have gotton stuck and stranged EVERYBODY, and then nobody would have been able to get out.

I agree with rollinthunder. The editors probably should've taken a slightly better quote than "We're thinking about ourselves, now" and used it in the context of what was on screen at the moment.

I don't want to add fuel to the fire so hopefully this is one of the last comments. One of the drivers on the road with us has actually commented on the situation with no ill will towards TIV. You see, for the trucks who are able to drive in mud if need be, and were traveling forwards, it was a much different situation than it was for us, a 2 wheel drive tank with little to no visibility out the back driving backwards.

For them, it was no big deal as was stated by said driver. For us, abandoning ship (without blocking everyone in) was a real possibility.

Sean has designed TIV 2 to specifically resolve those issues of mud roads, traction, and poor visibility.

That must be why the locals were honking their horns as they were pushed out into the cornfields trying to get around these boneheads

Those "locals" as he pointed out were other chasers, and people trying to see the storm. I dont know if this is true or not, but niether do you.

My sister lives in tornado alley, she says the only people driving towards a tornado, are doing it to see it.

If this is true, and those people were chasers, and locals trying to get a view, then yes. It does become "them or us"

If you don't see that, your perception of reality is skewed

sean had been chasing storms for like 8 years! I think he knows what he's doin! He know when he's pushing the limits....he just pushed it to far and needed to get outta there. Just lay off and be nice. I agree with sean's decision all the way.
