Great show! Look forward to Storm Chasers 2008. LOSE SEAN CASEY. He is immature and angry, unprofessional. Thanks for a great show.

Nah, Sean makes the show interesting. He creates a dynamic on the show that is necessary. Plus, TIV is his baby.

No way! Can you imagine the high intensity of doing his job? Most people would crack under that pressure. Besides, I read somewhere that Sean had stated a lof of his "anger" was editing, and they didn't show much of the other side. I think he's a great personality. The show wouldn't be the same without him.

Simply, if there's no Sean Casey, there's no Storm Chasers.

Remember, Sean is the leader of the TIV project, after all.

Don't loose Sean, LOSE Josh and his radar. Why? There are other people with the same equipment as Josh an they don't have big egos to feed. Its Josh's way or the highway. I have met both of these people and Sean is much friendly and will take some time to talk with you. Josh acts like you are bothering him and he does make bad calls like the many he made on the series.

I really don't like Sean either. I didn't even like him when he was on Ellen--and I tried to; I really did! But he just seems so sullen & immature. Who cares about IMAX of tornadoes?? What is really important is helping people get out of the way when a tornado is coming! I've been in some nasty storms (southern Indiana). In fact, we had a big tree slam to the ground, crushing the neighbor's old car. We've also had our back screen door ripped off our back porch.

So, Sean, ditch your ego. Who cares if you make a movie?? I don't! And the show actually irritates me because there is so much arguing. Everyone needs to GROW UP! There is VERY little actual looking at tornadoes; it's all just a waste of time. I'd much rather be watching "I Shouldn't Be Alive" again. WHERE did it go?? Discovery isn't doing a very good job lately--I'm also sick of Dirty Jobs reruns--and I like Mike! Sean is a smart-aleck who needs to quit running his mouth so much. And, no, I do NOT care where you stay in a hotel--and don't want to watch you pumping gas, etc. I'm getting ready to turn the channel right now. I'm sick of this stupid show. BORING!

Really shoul get rid of Josh. Total "Ego Chaser". Need to become more of a team player. Not "I'm The Boss, And Thats That." Why have a team if you don't need them. To much science and not enough common sense.

to joy47: you know, just because YOU dont like the show doesnt mean that you always get your way. There a tons of people out there like me who absolutly LOVE this show. so shut your mouth and change the channel.

to mellstan: I guess your kind of right. The only problem with getting rid of Josh is that they have a contract...

Having Sean and Josh on the show is great. I love all the equipment so if we lose Josh or Sean we just lose the equipment. Josh needs Sean so that they can put instruments on the TIV. Sean needs Josh to tell him where to go to intercept the tornado. Thats that.

So, is Josh simple mistakes make the difference! I am 14, and my simple mistake was I was a guard and made sure everyone to take off their badges yet I forgot simple mistake almost got killed. Lightning struck 50 ft from me I got knocked over and zapped, but I was fine.

I know someone is going to have some smart aleck responce to this aren't they? I am a weather spotter not a storm chaser, but my friend a Chief Meteorologist has and he's told me about the pressure so everyone who's not a storm chaser Calm Down!

Sean drops the ball over and over and over again. His vehicles are junk? And he is a big scaredy cat, whiny, angry, whiner guy. He ads only frustration and angst. Reminds me of the Curb Your Enthusiasm guy. Get someone from one of these 4x4 shows to build him a decent rig. These tiv's suck.

Get one of these 4x4 shows to build him a decent vehicle. He sure cant do it and when he gets the chance he tuck his tail. Lose these guys and get real people to run this show. So annoying.

KS Chaser couldn't reply directly....IF you lived on a farm and/or drove every day you'd know you don't know what you are talking about. Drove it every day for 50+ years and don't get stuck my Dad at 90 could drive it and he's 90 so stick to things you KNOW or have experencice doing not a GAME for a week.

I am a country road driver in this area my whole life. They have crappy vehicles with street tires. Simple off road tires will give them fantastic traction on those roads and a real mud tire would solve everything. I know this as fact. KFChaser you sound all defensive and like you do not know so much about this. 4x4 mud technology has not changed in 20 years because it works. You need a deeper lug and everything will be fine.

Having been a fan of the show since day one, let me mention that TIV1 was built by Sean, it is unfortunately only rear wheel drive, with duallies and ARB lockers. TIV2 was a step up for sure, but a giant step up that needed more attention, simple. TIV1 for it looking like a POS, has been hit at least 8 times and done the job for it's occupants safety.

In last year's series, there is an entire sequence dedicated to Sean building TIV1. I'm sure he had help with some systems, but that beast is all him.

Both TIV's are junk. Been driving out there since I was 9 so not my whole life. KCS are you always defending these guys. Still trying to get a job with them? Sounds like it... Find a decent 4x4 show to build them something that can handle this terrain and not always be broke. Drives me nuts.

On one of the threads, Sean said he had TIV2 completely re-done after the season, something about Dana 80's. TIV1's big drawback is that it is not 4x4, that was a huge mistake.

KCChaser,

Sean built the entire TIV 1. Nat Geo did a whole TV special on it, called "Tornado Intercept." TIV2 was designed by Sean, but built primarily by USA 6x6, and the failures (axle, tires etc,) were USA 6x6's fault, as its owner admitted.

If you guys have a problem with Sean's work, why dont you try building a TIV yourself? Its not as easy as it looks. And whats the TIV's job anyway? To keep the team inside of it safe! Has it ben doing that? Yes! So Sean could have done a worse job. I garentee that if you attempted to build a TIV, you would fail miserabley.

Lose Sean, lose storm chasers. As a person who has lived in tornado alley my entire life, seen many, chased by a few not by choice I am excited for the IMAX film. I would love to see what it would be like to be inside a tornado. They have always fascinated me. Tornadoes are so unpredictable on where they touch down it has to be frustrating to try to actually catch one.

Until you have been up close to the beast, shut up. Visit Greensburg, KS. Not on TV, but in person.

All you people talking about 'driving all your life on those country roads'. Do you drive them in the heavy rains at 50-70 miles an hour trying to get to a tornado?

You people are nuts. I thought the threads would be interesting, but you are all pathetic whiners. One visit and I'm done.

This was another classic case of him freaking out like a little baby. Making his driver drive the wrong way on the interstate in the rain? How crazy/unprofessional and outright dangerous. I loved the beefcake shot of him cleaning himself with the stank window squeegee. And the retarded helmet is a perfect touch. He needs one of those kid leashes to round out the outfit. This guys a joke.

Shean adds alot of character to the show, it would not be the same without him. Man alot of people are whining about turning around on the highway too, big deal. Desperate times call for desperate measures, you can't always play by the books. They could see if they were in any real danger by doing so and made their decision, I'm sure every one of you has broken the law before. I didn't think it was that big of a deal, kinda cool actually.

Yep.

To dispel a common myth, adding a drive line to a wheel doesn't automatically enable it to "save the day". As long as you're using open differentials, the tire with the LEAST traction is the first to spin. And with nothing but open differentials, that one wheel will spin and spin, and the other wheels will do nothing at all. XWD without slip limiting is effectively one wheel drive, no matter how many "driven" wheels there are. It's the traction management gear that makes traction.

Sure you need the drive line in order for the traction management to work, but the fact remains that potential energy will seek the path of least resistance. Knowing where to put, and when to apply locking differentials and/or limited slip differentials at all three (or more) points is 99% of the battle.

If you dont like Sean, get over it! There is no Storm Chasers without him. He started the storm chasers, and he not going to end it just because of a bunch of whyning people. This is his life, and how he makes money. And, he's good at it. so buzz off.

Ok guy's,
I will beak this down for you. The show is filming Science field project . They did not cast this show , well other than TVN . This project happens every year with or with out the camera's . Next year they should be part of the Vortex-2 project with the NSSL, OU and other's.
Right now if you love this show you should be pushing for S.3 not crying about S1 or S2.

Agreed, I don't like Sean that much, but without him, where's the TIV2? No inside data then, and then no scientific team. No radar, no safe intercepts. Every show has to have some "drama", not that I like it, but you get used to it. Every person on the team has there a purpose, even the team medic that got hit by a tornado that the team was running away from Wink

I don't know why anyone would fund this group of unprofessional whiners. People, this is not how you are supposed to act in business. They make watching these videos annoying, which is sad. Take a page from Reed and grow up.

Josh and Sean play well off each other if you ask me.
Reed has acted like a jackass before too.

But really... Who cares?

Its interesting to watch, i envy all of them, for what they get to do. If only i lived closer to tornado alley i'd get out in the action my self.

Saw a funnel go directly over my house 2 weeks ago, and thats the closet i've been, and probaly ever will be where i live.

If you ask me, the people sitting here, at their PCs whining, are the really pathetic ones.

The reason Josh I like that is because he is trying to keep sean safe and out of situations that the tiv can't handle he does not want to be responsible for seans death that why he makes sure sean follows his orders.

Love or hate any of the characters, but they all bring something to the show. Sean carried the first season, and Reed took that spot the second season. Maybe the new guy will out shine them both this season. Can't Wait!!!

i would bet 100 bucks when sean makes his imax film this guy would be first in line to see it, i say take josh out of the show (yeah he has all the good data collecting equipment but he has too much on his plate to deal with sean and his crew). sean makes the show and i can see how he gets upset all the time because josh puts him on the back burner

i'd most likely get pretty frustrated as well seeing as he pays $140 in gas a day along with all the other ridiculous expenditures he's responsible for. grant money can only go so far and when you have a wife and kid at home relying on you getting the "shot" after 8 years of failure i'd get pretty ticked off too.

i lived in logan county in western kansas. 4 wheel drives incredibly improve your ability to go and to steer, but don't do much for your breaking. yes, i'v done it during huge rains too. the only thing that is almost unpassable is the clay-type roads where the chat gravel has been blown off or is missing. then the clay builds up in the fender well top the point that the wheels start sliding and lock up. it sucks to dig that out of the fender well. i wish i could be their navigator or driver in kansas. i could help .
