Yea, are you the nimrod who directed the driver to BACK UP through traffic, running AWAY from the storm saying, in essence, "it's them or us, keep going." If you are not that Jerk, my apologies. If you are that Jerk, PLEASE get another job. Who knows, the people you run off the roads and leave to the mercy of the storms might be Discovery Channel viewers.

To: tmsquire1, You've made your opinion clear, now why don't you go post on a show's site you DO like? Sean and Josh: My friends and I love the show, just wanted to say thanks for creating something entertaining and informative!

To tell you all the truth, no one looked like they were in imminent danger. the cars looked like they are going slow as they approached the TIV.

And how much faster would they hvae been able to go if some big "TIV" were not trying to back up over them because "it's them or us."? Come on, this show should be cancelled NOW, BEFORE some innocent is killed for some IMAX frames. If there ever is an IMAX from these characters, I will not see it.

tmsquire1: Seriously dude, let it go. Did Josh Wurman steal your prom date or something?

I have been a fan of the Discovery Channel too long to just "let it go."

The idea for the subject matter was good. The execution is seriously flawed where the "Heros" of the story are running away in "armored" vehicles, women and children be darned if they get in the way.

On the show, it says, "Bohika" or however you spell it, is a dirty word in storm chasing. It also says it's an acronym that translates to "I surrender."

What does the acronym actually stand for?

ok i got some questions.

1. do you enjoy this, to me it is so action packed it looks like fun, adreniline rushing.

2. what are the tiv's limit?

3. kinda long, how do you prepair for tornado chasing, i think it is so cool, do you have to go to school and learn how?

can i just go join a tornado chasing group, do i need to use my own truck, my truck is a 2006 yukon xl, would it be a bad thing to use vehicle that is so new, i notice that most of the vehicles every body uses are exacly new. I have a very good experence with meterology? is that all i need. wow sorry to throw so much at you.

1 more, what are the vehicles that we never see from inside that follow you, i mostly see an 07 tahoe is that a descovery vehicle for the camera crew, or is that part of your chaceing pack?

TIA. Its really cool to have insider info like this!!!

hmm, for some reason i cant edit my posts, in my last post i meant to say, "most of your vehicles aren't exacly new, and i can see why because you run them hard and through tornados!!

I shoot stills and do "movies" only on video. Are the ASA/f-stop concepts the same? How dark can you go?

For me it's like two months of Christmas. We set a tornadic limit of 150 mph.

Nope, didn't go to school for chasing, just called up Dr. Wurman ten years ago to see if I could tag along with an Imax camera and he agreed. Little did he know what he was getting into.

I'd be a little hesitant to suggest to someone to go out and just do it. I'd do some research and then find someone that's experienced and will let you come along.

Yep the Tahoe's were rentals and apart of the crew. We also have a Turndra as a bail out truck for the TIV. If we get stuck with a tornado comming at us, and it's a tornado we don't want to be in, then hopefully there's a chance to abandon ship and jump in the pick-up.

Yep to the F-stops, the lens's on the Imax camera run from F2 to F22. If it gets really dark then I might film at 6 to 12 frames per second rather than the regular 24fps.

Hey sean if you ever build another tiv would you build it on a 4x4 frame, Or you could even use an old army duce and a half 6x6. It will not be as fast but it will get you where you need to go.

Keep up the good work the show is great.

I'm gonna have to disagree with you guys on Sean making some bad moves when that storm was about to hit and they tried to turn around. That was a hell of an intense moment, and I probably would of done the same. Your not really thinking when your life is on the line like that. I understand where your coming from though, tmsquire1, and I respect your opinion.

I would love to find someone that would let me tag along. I think it would be an experience, especially since I've never seen a tornado in person before. I live Just outside of Chicago, but we don't see too much action. After watching the show, I got really interested in storms again like I was a few years ago.

My question for Sean is, do you run in to a lot of other storm chasers when your out chasing on the road? When you guys were at that one gas station or whatever it was, it looked like there were a lot of storm chasers that had come for the storm that was goiong to hit. I was impressed by how many had showed up.

i think there is a tiv2 in progress, according to the site, it will be based off a NEW dodge ram 3500, have 10 drive wheels, presuming 4 wheels on each axel in the rear, and be able to go off road, it will also have the monster 6.7 liter cummins turbo desil.

you rent the camera vehicles, WOW talk about rental miles.

how do you guys get along? Two months is a long time to have little arguments.

i may not have chasing experence and would also think it is a great experence, but have been through my fair share of tornados, as well as hurricanes, but this is a tornado forum, we used to live in the texas pan handle, and i remember going through an f4 and a bunch of little f0-f2's we had a cement storm shelter on our farm, came in handy, but now were very far away from tornado ally, we are in va now, been through some hurricanes, driven in hurricanes, the difference between tornado and hurricane driving is that there is no Imediate danger, just a TON of wind and sheers of rain, plus flying debree.

have you ever thought of mass producing the tiv, im sure the military would love them, all armored and can haul people plus ammo!

The new TIV (Totally Irresponsible Vehicle) will be based on the Abrams tank body. That way, if anyone gets in the way, they can crush while running away. That's LOT easier than trying to back in a "it's them or us" scenario. Every man for himself! And women and children be darned!

where is a mod when you need one, dont you realise that they were letting them go by, and if they did fully stop that they would get stuck and strand every body.

I agree. Where is the mod? tmsquire1, you gotta let that one scene go! We all GET WHAT YOUR POINT OF VIEW IS! Why do you think that repeating it over and over is going to make you more "right?" If you are such a big fan of Discovery, I'm sure there are other shows you can go obsess over. Maybe Mike Rowe squeezed a shrimp head too hard or something.

Oh yeah. There are times when there is only a very small area that has potential to produce tornadoes, one target area. Combine that with a weekend and you get "Chaser convergence" which equals dozens, if not hundreds of chasers.

Not to worry! we went down the line of cars and did a survey of which vehicles had women and children, lucky for us there weren't any! Thanks again for your concern!

Hey!

Byron here, TIV Navigator and show eye candy.

I feel it is important to note that when you outlaw running other trucks off the road in your homemade tank, only outlaws will be able to run trucks off the road in homemade tanks.

I think I speak for everyone here in saying that is not a world we want to live in.

i remember from living in the texas pan handle that you were NOT supposed to try and out run a tornado, the people that were blocked put them selves in danger because they should have stayed in their house in the storm shelter or in the center of their house, and if your not near your home to abandon your car and get in a ditch or storm drain.
