Great ending to the show! Now I am wondering 2 more things.

First, I've been wondering ever since I saw the design for the TIV2 on the site. I already know it's not going to "lower" but is it going to have the claws? (They weren't on the design image)

Second, do you have any idea if Discovery will be following your work with the TIV2?

Sean, Love the show, do you take donations? If so, how do we or how can we help? Scott Mallin in Shawnee, Ks

I was wondering if the tornado intercept shown in the 4th episode was shown "out of sequence"?? I looked up information about the Nickerson, KS. brief tornado and I believe that it occurred on April 24th, 2007. In other words BEFORE the Greensburg, KS tornado day shown in episode 3. Was this done to increase the drama in the show? Am I correct on this?

Whoa that was the BEST ending. I'm glad you got your shot Sean. I loved when you were hanging out of the TIV looking for that second intercept and it comes down right on top of you.

WHY do you guys yell at byron so much? i watched the first episode and you yelled at him for sleeping in the tiv, and for over sleeping, and for riding on the roof. he takes alot from you guys.

I'd like to state for the record that I didn't oversleep, that was Ronan.

But yes, the people would like to know why you and Ronan gave Byron such a hard time.

AWESOME ENDING! Finally Sean, you got what you were looking for! Congratulations, and hard work really DID pay off. Those two months of chasing at dawn and all that disappointment, I bet it was really worth it for the ten or fifteen seconds you were in the tornado wasn't it?

The thing I couldn't stop laughing about was the fact that everyone had to sleep in the same room. I felt really bad for the other person who had to sleep in the same bed with naked Sean. My friends were all like "Why doesn't he use the chair over there?" BUT, I understand why it had to be done that way, a $3,000 repair bill is a lot and corners had to be cut.

Overall you guys did a great job and I have no complaints about the series other then it was too short. They turned 9 weeks into 4 episodes. You still haven't answered one question though. Is there going to be a Storm Chasers in 2008? I know Dr. Josh will be working with his ROTATE2 project, will you be accompanying him? I wish I could go with you guys, but if I did, there would be TWO different "Seans" or "Shawns" in the convoy. I'm not sure if Mr. Casey is ready for that just yet!! Smile

That reminds me...the probes were unsuccessful were they not? Mara and Justin never got a direct hit on them during the entire two months, correct? Those two in the SCOUT vehicle get my full respect. They had a thankless job the entire time and did not get what they wanted. In addition, Ronan and Herb get my full gratitude as well. It's not easy to be a driver in all this and be OUT of all the action.

Here's to hoping for another year of this though. If not, I hope to see the TIV, the DOW, and the SCOUT, somewhere in the Plains in April or May.

Loved the show! My son (12 yrs old) and I could not wait to see it each week. We hurt for you each time you did not get the shot and were thrilled you had the two intercepts in the end. We hope you get the perfect shoot that you want next year.
Thanks for such great scientific entertainment - we learned alot and had a lot of good laughs.
Wish the show was going to be on a lot longer Smile

I am curious to ask if Josh and Shawn have considerd moving home base, The texas panhandle is not really the best location for chasers headed out all over the great plains. It would be more benifical chase and Commute wise to have a base in Kansas perhaps centralay located Like Salina or a bit further south like Wichita. This enables the team to be closer to a central location to rest on down days and may save a lot of that valuable grant money otherwise spent on travel if they are in the area already. Living in Oklahoma I know hat Oklahoma and Kansas have far more tornados then the surrounding states it just seems to make more since then Texas.

i forgot all the suff i laughed at on the last episode. the chair looked comfortable, he should have slept there, you could have also saved money by staying in a less fancyier hotel.

another funny thing was when we came back from a commercial and it said 'MIDDLE OF NOWARE" on the bottom of the screen.

another question is how was the pick up able to tow tiv. tiv waights like 14k pounds, A new toyota tundra with the new 5.7 liter v8 max towing is 10,500 pounds. and i know that yalls tundra was not an 08. because it was the older style.

Love the series. I, too wish it would be longer.

Sean: It seemed that driving thousands of miles all other tornado alley took its tool on the TIV. Have you considered hauling the TIV on a larger vehicle for the long-distance travels? That would have probably prevented that road-side breakdown that made you lose a day.

My back was already well crooked from riding in the uncomfortable seats in TIV for so long, the chair was not an option. And I didn't want to hurt Sean's feelings by sleeping on the floor.

Doghouse did TOW TIV, it's not hard to tow it, just need to be gentle when starting.

Glad you all liked the last episode!

Hi Sean,

Love the show, kudos to everyone involved, all in all a great season. I felt informed as well as entertained,
which is what the Discovery Channel is all about.

My family and I live on the eastern edge of Tornado alley here just outside of Springfield, MO a little over
350 miles from where TIV2 in being built. I am an experienced welder, metal worker, automotive
mechanic & electrician, IT TECH, and part time inventor. If you can imagine it, I can build it or get it
built if I don't have the equipment. My nephew lives with my wife and myself and he is a Certified
Mechanic who works for our local Chevy/Chrysler/Ford dealership.

If you ever need help with either of the TIVs just drop me a line. We would be glad to lend a hand
anytime you need it(no charge). (Weekends during the winter) Just keep us fed and a cold brew at the end
of the day. (It don't get any cheaper than that, LOL.)

Our way of saying thanks to you guys and gals of "Storm Chasers". BTW, the same offer goes to Josh and his folks of the DOW and Scout.

Thanks again.

Here again....I'll start with the first question after my last post, if I leave out something, give me a holler.

Lifting the Imax camera...it weighs 102 pounds. I'm grunting on camera because there's no room in the TIV to get underneath it. So imagine lifting an awkward hundred pound object over your head while being on your knees. If the tornado is not eminent and I need to get my blood up then I yell at Byron to insult me. He usually says something about coming back there and doing it himself or something about me balding. He can be cruel when provoked.

As to season two, I hope Discovery will come out again, as they had a talented, fun, brawling, crew out there this year. I'm going out no matter what, though, it just not be for as long as the two months we usually do. I miss my kids too much, I'm out there for my passion, but my heart is left behind.

As too stopping after I get the shot. I tell my wife that I will but....probably not. And to clarify someone's post, we did not get "the shot" this last year. The last tornado that we intercepted was to whimpy looking. If someone is going to see the Imax film I'm making I don't want to rip them off.

As to Byron being yelled at...Byron likes to be yelled at. He and I spend a lot of time filming with the Marine Corps and we have adopted the D.I./recruit relationship. Plus, he loses focus, I ask him to do something, and then I find him talking to people thirty minutes later. Believe me, he deserves it.

ROTATE2 - For those of you who don't know, ROTATE2 just got funded by NSF and will be the largest field study of tornadoes ever done. Think about our team on "Storm Chasers" and then times it by 20. I don't think the TIV will be an official part of V2, but I beilive we will be present.

As to the offers of donations, I thank you, but I'd feel bad about taking people's money, unless you were coming from a corporation or are wealthy. Keep your money or give it to a charity that is supprting the people of Greensburg, the ones that got hit by that tornado in EP 3. They need it more than I do.

And to tell you the truth...I like roughing it, it gives me an excuse to make Ronan and Byron camp out with me and share a room everynight for the entire 08 trip. Maybe we'll make t-shirts and sell them by the road next year....

Thanks for all the support and questions. It all helps to feed the fire to get this mission done.

If you make T-Shirts, make sure to sell them online Smile.

And I also wanna see smaller versions of the poster "for when TIV is destroyed" sold too.

Ok, now in all seriousness.

To re-ask the question you accidentally missed in my previous post.

Does the design for the TIV2 have the claws? The concept image doesn't show it.

No, no claws, TIV2 will have toothed plates that slide out of the body to the ground to form a foil effect.

TIV2 will be ready by Feb, and yes, I guess I'll let Ronan Drive it.

I'm usually in the buff when I sleep, but I would have had something on when sharing the bed with Byron, but he had such a strong reaction against it, that, yes, I did it to annoy him.

A) I don't deserve to be yelled at. Sean is just jealous the crew liked me more than him.

2) hopefully some of the big dollars discovery makes on this show will be funneled towards therapy to help repress the memory of that night.

And finally there was a big scene where I battled 50 ninjas that got cut from the show. Just want to put that out there. Maybe 53.

PS Camping would be fun.

Great show! Hope to see more next year, and one questions about the TIV, or rather the markings on the TIV.

I might've missed it from the first show but since the TIV hadn't gotten any footage until the last episode, do the black and red tornado graphics on the side of the TIV mean something?
