Ok, I'm frustrated. It's obvious that the builders/designers of TIV II had no idea what they were doing. Seriously, Dana 60 in the front? My god, sure its good for offroading, but it was never designed to carry no 19,000lbs of Solid steel. So for the sake of future TIV, everybody post what they think the next TIV is, and we can refine the list. Maybe sean will take a look at it, and it can be done RIGHT.

General principle should look like this, (IMO)
First, take an Ford F-450 Superduty Crew Cab 4x4, utilizing the 6.4L Powerstroke Turbo, and the 5-Speed automatic. Enclose the bed with a tubular steel/aluminum frame, and then build a solid, strong wall around it, using aluminum, and carbon fiber. Connect this to the cab, by cutting out the back of the cab wall, and connecting it to the box in the bed, completely connecting them, so it looks like a big van. For the armor, retain the same basic principle of aerodynamics. However, instead of solid steel, try this- Build a strong, yet lightweigh frame out of aluminum. Wrap the frame in a 1/8" Steel plating. On top of this, use 1/4" Aluminum Plating, and the last layer will be 1/8" of CF-honeycomb -reinforced fiberglass. I'm no engineer, but that seems like it should work out to a much lighter armor than the old design will. I'm sure it can be tweaked, too. The windows should be bulletproof, 1/2" Glass. The armor should allow for 15" of groundclearance. The vehicle must be capable of traversing poor, unpaved dirt/gravel roads. It should look simialar to the old TIV, but much ligher, and faster.

I agree completely, but what Sean wants, is not to drive into a weak F-0, but to drive into a feirious looking F-4 or 5

I think they need to look a little to what the military is doing with the IED trucks. They are fairly well done for off road and are very will armored. All they really would have to do is up grade the gunners hatch to allow for the imax camera alote of the computer wireing is already in alote of the trucks. Just a thought and all been in the trucks in Iraq so pretty sure it would take a lick from a tornado .

an older military truck should have been his first choice, well, thats my opinion at least, a btr80 would have been almost perfect right out of the box, and not even that expensive. it gets about 6-8 mpg on diesel, or if he wanted a lighter civilian version, the GAZ59037a, check them out and let me know what you think.

first love the show ,but for the tiv you guys nead to get a lot more agresive tires stock tires r great for street use but what u nead is a good all terain or mud terain tire . i know u need the duelys for the weight u r hauling but they suck in the mud . so get the most agresive tires u can find . unfortunetly fords have that stupid 19.5 tire so they r hard to find but they r out there. and for hecks sake get a cb or vehical mounted two way radios . this info is from experiance in the N E Utah oil field clay mud and canyons where street tires and hand held raidios and even cell phones will leav you stranded with a 100 mile hike in your future.also if u take the sugestions of rudolphna and layer 1/8 th inch steel with aluminum and carbinfiber it will hold up to tremendus presure veriance and blunt force impact. as well as being light weight.

since the TIV 1 is getting rusty I think that sean should scrap the it and light a fire under his mechanics asses to get the TIV 2 running. I think what rudolphna said is very true and I do believe that it will work, because carbon fiber not only is it light but its very strong, because it on dragsters and NASA uses it, so if sean looks at this thread then you should definitely consider these suggestions

Ok

Now boys frist take a drive in to town and look what the locals drive. rain and drit= mud and lots of it!! right??
So eather you sink though it to something solid or you need to be on top of it. TIRES + TIRES key number one.
tall and skinny with lot of open tread or the widest and biggest thing you can fit. Both need there own set up
tall and skinny well that works for slow going tractors. For me it would would be floation. with the horsepower
and well the backbone to drive it like you mean it. the TIV need to be heavy 10k lbs minunum so that means 2-1/2 ton rockwell axels
4 wheel steering full tube frame some kinda 500ci big block engine (gas) froget the diesel crap. just more crap to fail
the sliding side skirts and well the claws.... well if they scewer somthing it could lead to a lawsuit.....
if the drivetrain is HD then you can pack on poly carb and the generator and all the radar and crap that looks cool.

Good luck....

What they need is a large "clear view screen"(made up of bullet proof glass) for the vehicles whether it's detachable or automatically slides up/down the windscreen with the touch of a button.

I think that the TIV||| needs a military body from the tank carrer truck the sell them for less then $2500 dollers on ebay ive looked in to buying the old kind there are two cold war one and madern one get the cold war one or ww2 put the armer of TIV2 on it only better. oh and the body of this trucks go off road to pull tankes out like the paton and sherman tank kool A? all you need is the chasey of that truck and build on it. The law say's as long as it carrys 5 to 6 people its road legale as long as theres tires and no weapons really. ive seen a armerd carrer that a freind of mine got with out the cannons loader and had the laoding door cut off in order to be raod legale. he now stays in san frocisco he dosen't drive it any more becase its not good in fuel.
