Hello,

I once asked a fireman why they didn't build slides into buildings as fire escapes and update buildings by building them along side. He told me that one the way down the friction would cause burns, and that it would act like a chimney. So, why wouldn't building a water slide, with spring loaded or that open up and close via gravity for emergency doors work? Then there was the issue of people slamming into others from the upper floors by people entering lower floors. Does it need some kind of traffic control system? Now, we're up to electronically locking doors that lock and unlock based upon how far away some-one else is. So, if it does make sense, why don't we do it?

Using spiralling slides, you could drop people straight down several storys, and start the coiling and steepen it and the number of turns per yard until they slowed down. In other words, at the top floor of the tallest building, it very easily could be jump and the pipe is straight down then slowly curves outwards, then around in 10 yards for the first turn 5 yards for the second turn, and once your spinning use centripedal force to build friction against the slide and riding it you would experence all of the G forces of braking as if they made you lay flat on your back for the last several turns.

Nice thought, you have many good ones, Happy to see you again in deference to the multitude of spam posts. Water slide for building evacuation, could work and the payback would be openining it up for the kids and charging a fee. Cool

hey,
i saw your episode on fire escapes and loved the work you put into your idea. i am putting my suggestions for the first time so please don't mind if it is in the wrong place or the way is not right.and also sorry for my poor english.
anyways the idea of magnetic breaking was fine but it was designed for a single person and even if a whole platform is used instead, to support a number of people, it is wishful thinking to hope that all the people will be available to go down at the same time . because say if two people are caught somewhere in the fire , it would not be a good idea to risk the lives of say other 20 people on the platform already
my point is that you should have a better system of resetting the platform as soon as the first platform reach the ground.this can be done by using another platform as a counterweight to this one. hope you got what i want to say.
