Considered a warrior art and a classical fighting system that deals with real combat effective techniques instead of tournament style fighting. The style, founded by Taika Seiyu Oyata, with their form of bogu kumite, would be an EXCELLENT challenge for either one of these fighters!! This is Ryu Te, not to be confused with George Dillman's bogus style of RyuKyu Kempo
Taika is in Independence, MO. However, his style is Okinawan karate, at a very high level. They really should go and see him, to witness the light touch KOs, the grappling okinawan style, and the bogu kumite. It would be an eye opener for everyone.
I agree with what RangerMed said. I believe that these two men on Fight Quest could really benefit from spending time with Taika Oyata. In my opinion he is a true modern day master of one of the world's finest martial arts. Maybe the finest. He created it and he is still adding to it for his students. He is old school. None of the acrobatics that you see in the movies. He teaches a person how to really move, and he does it with such grace and speed that even now you can't see him moving until you're already on the ground! This warrior class style of fighting was originated from Okinawa. Taika's own personal history is so fascinating that you need to read his book to really gain an understanding of him and his martial art. He originally came from Okinawa and moved here, to the U.S.A. I really believe that he needs more than one show though to really get at the truth of his style of martial art. As a female student of this style, I can tell you it is not for those who think it is going to be easy to learn. I've even seen some of the senior students in my class fumble when we learn new things. The way in which we are taught is so mind blowing that every time you come from class your brain is tired! But you can't wait for the next one! If I had the opportunity to study for a week straight with Taika Oyata or one of his top students it would be one of the highlights of my life, the honor I would feel from being in Taika's presence... However there is a bogus, a fake if you would out there who claims that he is a 'former' ,student of Taika's; George Dillman. He is a charlatan at best. I wouldn't even spend a minute in his presence. He isn't worth anyone's time. Just look up the stuff on youtube and you'll see for yourself. You can also view some of Taika Oyata's abilities also on youtube. Check it out.RyuTe is practiced in the U.S.A., Poland, Okinawa and I also think in Russia. There maybe other countries, but I don't know of them.

I don't know anything about this guy taika. He may be a great fighter. But light touch KO's are bogus. It's a parlor trick that is completely useless in any real fight scenario.
As a long time student of RyuTe, I think a show about RyuTe would be very informative and challenging for the Fight Quest guys.
RyuTe is a classical martial art; very different than the traditional martial arts with more recent origins. The emphasis is soley on combat effectivness/self-defense. And the weapons katas are unlike the katas in any other system.
