Human Weapon(which I have no problem with) had one of the most interesting and entertaining episodes of that series; when they went to the Marine Core to train in MCMAP. D***n, that was cool.
Obviously, that is not your traditional martial art (like Hapkido or Muay Thai) but it is combat based and they do take stuff from different disciplines. So, with all their experience (on and off the show), they may take to that sort of training because some of the moves may be familiar to them.
Of course this should not be limited to Marine Corp. Army, National Guard, law enforcement and/or S.W.A.T. This would also be a good opportunity to see the state of our National Security...maybe. But I think it could be a good episode.
Doug...Jimmy! What do you guys think of doing that type of training and learning some of their techniques? You guys would definitely get one of the best workouts of your life.
Corp. = corporation Core = the center of someting (ie an apple core) Corps = a group within a formation that has a specialized or specific purpse (Marine Corps, Corps of Engineers, Drum Corps, etc).
In my haste, I may have inadvertently made some spelling errors. However, I'm sure the meaning and intent of my post can be correctly inferred nonetheless.
With all the nit-picking aside, I wonder what Doug and Jimmy would think of doing a show based on Military Combat...?
Well, there is an upcoming Krav Maga episode which is an Israeli military fighting style. Given how downright brutal Krav Maga is when done correctly (and from the sound of the interviews regarding this upcoming excercise in agony, it was) that should satisfy your craving for a military fighting style episode.
Thanks. The Krav Maga episode looks downright brutal. But that has already been filmed and set to air.
I think that it would be cool to see other military based styles of combat. It is interesting to see from which martial art styles that they "borrow' from that they use in their arsenal of attack and defense.
I personally am not a military fanatic. Just think that it would make a good episode and give Smith and Anderson a good workout.
The HW show with MCMAP was one of the ones that stuck out in my mind.
What is peculiar about military styles isn't their techniques. In that regard they essnetially borrow simple proven techniques and concepts from other arts (and that includes Krav Maga). What sets military combatives apart is the intent and intensity level for which they train. They are training to kill people, plain and simple. It doesn't have to look pretty, but it does have to be done all out all the time.

I don't know if I would call it "peculiar" but that is one of the reasons why I want to see more shows based on military. Recently, I had commented before in my previous post about how it would be interesting to see from which martial art styles they borrow from.
Military is anything but pretty and I'm not sure where that sentiment came from. It's intent, purpose, intensity effectiveness, brutality...etc is a given and I have no dispute with it. Again, I'm not sure who implied otherwise.
IMO would make some good episodes for Fight Quest. The applications of techniques, the training and conditioning and whatever else they can think of would make for some good TV. Of course, I would hope it would serve to educate people.

Given the nature of military combat and the fact that they are borrowed, we may just as well watch the whole season over again...
But they did a good job during the Human Weapon episode involving MCMAP. It would be interesting to see what different techniques are borrowed and why.
I'm telling ya, CDT and LRT is perfect for showing national security techniques. It is used by bodyguards, law enforcement, CIA, and special forces. They don't really advertise the system because it is kind of a trade secret for security personnel. But you can find seminars being held all over the United State at various karate and bodyguard schools.
