Clinton and Stacy always have people buy lacy (or not so lacy) camisoles to put under jackets, dresses, and tops with deep V-necks. I feel like whenever they tell you the price of the cami, it's like $80!! Does anyone know where to find nice but inexpensive camisoles to wear under low-cut dresses?? (BTW I have a larger bust which has made my search even more difficult. I've found some at Old Navy but you can never count on them having something when you need it!)

Thanks!

I have found a lot of nice camisoles at Target, believe it or not. They were under $10. I also found a great one to go with a dress at Nordstrom for about $24.

I have seen a lot of them at Wal-Mart if you want really cheap. Actually, my secret is to wear sports bras that look like camis when worn under low cut tops and dresses. I buy them big enough to wear over my bra. I like that because there's no extra layer of fabric to worry about on my stomach. I buy 3 sports bras for $10 at Wal-Mart and they come in different colors too. They look far more expensive than that in outfits, too. No one knows it's a sports bra, LOL. It just looks like a really nice cami.

Hey that is a good idea about the sports bras. On the other hand I also like the super long ones that can stay tucked in. I am a frequent thrift store shopper, and pick them up when I see them in new or like new condition for a few dollars. Neutral colors are good basics. I prefer synthetic material (mostly nylon with lycra for stretch) for camis instead of cotton/poly which retains moisture when you sweat on those hot days. I prefer the kind without the built in shelf bra, because I layer over my bra and don't want the extra bulk. I've also seen some with built in underwire bra which could be on option for some.

When I wear a regular cami I prefer the ones without the built in shelf bra too but they're getting harder to find, especially in the cheaper price range. For some reason the shelf bra usually makes the cami too low cut for me. The whole reason I want to wear a cami in the first place is because the dress or whatever needs more coverage on top and that defeats the purpose. Somehow I don't have that problem in a sports bra.

If you've truly got a large bust, you may want to watch www.bravissimo.com for sales on their 'strappy tops' (which have bras built into them--real bras not shelf bras).

If you're over a D cup, a shelf bra is inadequate--like using dental floss to rope a steer.

Email them about your measurements, etc--their customer service is great. I haven't tried this particular product, but I do have a number of their other garments, and have always been happy.

Another alternative to a camisole for a too-low neckline is to find square or scoop neck tanks. I pay about £3 for them, and sew elastic and snaps into the shoulders to anchor them to my bra straps. That way, the straps don't show.

I've found a bunch of good camis at Ann Taylor Loft (and Ann Taylor). Like this one - Ann Taylor Loft Satin Lace Camisole

If you stretch your thinking to include lightweight tank tops, especially the ones with thinner straps, you can find them inexpensively at Target ($7-9 and less on sale).

That's exactly what I do. I have a rainbow of colors that go with every wrap top I own. I mix and match for very little money.

I found white and black camisoles by Jockey in the lingerie section of Kohl's. I looked all over and those were the first ones I found without a built-in bra.

Target and Walmart do have some nice things, but if you want to go just a bit more expensive but not what they have on the show, look at Sears and JC Penny's. I like the Cuddle Duds line because I live in the north and am always cold. They are light weight, but still keep you warm. Plus, they go on sale a lot Smile.
