You're sort of right there. Actually, the biggest reason why I'm in revamp wardrobe mode is because I'm finally starting to figure out what looks good. Some of the stuff I thought looked good or people told me looked good....just doesn't. Losing weight also affected how some of the clothes fit or looked as well. Two of my dress pants now have baggy b*tt along with extra material in front. Not very flattering, to say the least!

Thank you, ilibaby, that was a lot of typing. I am processing all the information. Your photos inspire paying attention to what you have to say.

Yes, I did the test - it said I am a vase. Do you have any idea why the site would say a vase should not wear wedge shoes?

I did the test on myshape, also, and the results came back with a letter that had to be a mistake. So I emailed them to ask about it. They apparently actually looked at the information I had entered and responded that the letter I was give was a mistake and that I am a "Y". I was amazed at the personal attention. The clothes for sale for Y's look very much like the clothes I wear.

i'm so glad there were no surprises and you've been doing the right thing, that is good news, gobaygo! good job girl! looks like you know yourself and what works already! Smile
the reason they say no wedges is likely (i remember reading it) because you have thin limbs, thin legs and thighs and the wedge may look too chunky/bulky for your frame and it may add attention to it instead of the entire body itself. (sort of look out of place since you are dainty)

Hmmm....I don't really think of myself as dainty but my legs and arms are not big, so maybe you are right. The problem is that my new red shoes have a wedge heel and (like you said on the "heels" thread) grip my foot like they are part of it and are very comfortable, so maybe when they wear out or are out of style I'll think more seriously about wedges being not for me.

gobaygo, if they look good on you~ WEAR THEM! not all wedges are alike, some are huge and bulky/stacked/wooden while others are more dainty. if they're heavy with wide straps take a photo (or even if they aren't heavy, just wear them with a skirt, take photo and see how they look). a big part of it working or not is the style of the shoe itself. and if they look good on you and are comfortable to boot? i wouldn't kick 'em off my shelf... Gobaygo, I wouldn't necessarily ditch the idea of wedge altogether. Body shape bibles (of which there are plenty!) tend to get some things wrong on occasion. Not to mention, it's very rare that you fit 100% into that body style. Hourglasses get recommended cardigans all the time, but I can't wear those, for example, because I'm a b*stier hourglass. I bet we could start a thread on things books say we should wear that don't actually work!

Take a picture or find a good mirror and see how the wedges look on YOU. Your legs might have enough weight so that the wedge works. Also, a wedge can look "daintier" if the wedge contours like a real heel instead of just being flat along the sides. When I lose down to my goal weight, I tend to be an in-between vase/hourglass during the course of normal weight fluctuations. But, my legs still stay athletic and "bigger" allowing me to wear thicker heels and wedges without being swallowed by them.

P.S. I'm so glad you found a pair of "heels" that work for you! Smile

Thank you, siepres, how thoughtful of you to remember that I was stressed. These are the shoes. I have to get them wide to accomodate padding and then the back is too large, so I need a strap to hold them on, and it seems the t-strap is more slenderizing and lengthening than a strap across. These shoes are a little dainty and my legs are sufficiently sturdy that they should work. I will try the camera trick. Thanks to you both.

Does this thread need to get back on the subject or can we just go anywhere we want? I think the rambling is nice - the conversation just keeps going.

Gobaygo, until someone steps in and says, "Get back on topic, ladies," I think we're free to ramble as we like. Wink

I can't see the picture of your shoes though! For some reason, everything from shoemall does not load on my screen. I wonder if I have some filter setup to block it....Anyway, I remember you had said that all the heels we were posting had inspired you to give them a try again. From the URL, it looks like their naturalizers? I love that brand. I can walk all day in those shoes. I just wish they had a better variety of colors.

Definitely try the camera too! Even though you can fudge things with a camera (angles, lighting, etc.), I still think you tend to get a better idea of how things look than just glancing in the mirror. I got rid of a couple skirts because the camera showed me things a mirror didn't!
