I found an online corduroy store, based in San Francisco, not too far from where I live. They make (among other things) very cute knee-length skirts, and most of their stuff is currently on sale.

I went shopping yesterday for a pair of classic black pants. It was a challenge because I wanted primarily natural fiber (pure polyester/rayon doesn't like me). I found a pair of lightweight wool pants in 96% wool 4% lycra at the Melanie Lynn store. They sit about an inch below my waist and have no pockets to add bulk at the hips. I think I'll be able to wear them for fall, winter, and spring as they are lightweight wool. They were originally $155 and I got them on sale for $40.

Well, since I like my other Cole Haan shoes with the Nike footbed so much and they are having a sale, I dropped by the store and tried these on:black pumps

They fit perfectly! I love high heels, and the way these 4" heels are made makes it really easy for me to stand or walk in them for a long time. Also, they are cut in a way that made my size 9 foot look smaller than it is.

Still expensive, but $100 off.

The other day I went shopping to one of my favorite stores which was having a HUGE sale. I got the most adorable pair of Paige Premium Denim jeans. Originally $178 they were reduced to $80. Definately the find of the day! I also got a really cute shrug, a juicy sweatshirt, and three tanks.

P.S. Those shoes are fabulous, dancestarr! They look like they might even be comfortable!!

I went to the Ann Taylor outlet on Sunday, and found two pairs of black, flat-front, lined pants (one with 2 buttons, and the other with a tab-front) for $30 each, and two darling pairs of khakis, both flat front, but in two different shades, for $20 each. They all fit perfectly and go with everything in my closet.

Obviously not for fasionistas, but good for us working girls with a "business casual" office.

If you have one nearby and need career-type clothes, they're having a great sale!

Jeans! Big Grin Went to Avenue and found my favorite Avenue Premiere Jeans. They are so comfortable fit my curvy figure really well, and they look great. And best of all they are regulary priced at $49.95 but were on sale for only $9.99!

Thanks, Cheryle and Kellabella!

They are way, way more comfortable than, say, my Stuart Weitzman pumps. I like them a lot.

I took some guests from out of town shopping today and saw the jacket that matches the black pants I bought the other day on sale. It was regularly $255 and was marked down to $50. One button had come off but there was a spare one attached to the label. So I bought a $410 wool suit that is light enough to wear year round for $90 plus the cost of hemming.

At my favorite consignment shop, I found:

Black, 3 button rayon blend blazer (Talbot)
Multi-colored Chanel-inspired one button tweed jacket
Black wrap skirt in rayon blend (Old Navy)
Dark wash stretch denim capris (The Gap)

all for a whopping $48! They were all like new, too. Big Grin

I just ordered this navy trenchcoat from Newport News.

http://www.newport-news.com/shop/product_ensemble.aspx?...174&category_id=8194

I find the quality from NN varies, so this may end up going back. I love navy, I like the style, the price is right. I hope it's a keeper.

Over the weekend I hit the clearance sales at both Marshalls and TJMaxx. I scored:

A velvet, dark emerald green Tahari blazer, MSRP of $448, for $36!!!
A dk wash fitted denim blazer for $15, a brown printed velour hoodie for $15, two embellished knit tops in cranberry and rose for $7 and $5 (orig prices over $70 ea), and an aqua Ralph Lauren polo for $7.

All items fit perfectly and work well with basic jeans/pants/skirts already in my wardrobe.

The coat arrived today. Perfect fit, and the quality is actualy better than I expected. I'm in a navy-for-spring mood, so this will be a nice addition to my wardrobe.

Ok this is going to sound silly but for me this is hitting the jeans jackpot !! I finally found the perfect fitting jeans. I've always struggled with jeans !! The most ridiculous part is that they have been right under my nose !! They are the Levi's Signature Low Slim Bootcut jeans. They fit perfect and they are the perfect length to wear with flats or heels. I got them at K-Mart, I cannot believe that I never bothered to try them before !! The best part is that now that I know I can just order them on-line if they don't have them in the store and they come in all different kinds of washes !! Woo Hoo !! Can you tell I'm excited LOL

Dancingstarr, I have a shoe question.

Since I'm new to grown up shoes (anything other than an athletic shoe or bulky sport sandal), I don't know if my new shoes fit correctly.

Should the top of my big toe touch the inside of the shoe? In other words, should I be able to feel the inside of the toe box?

If they aren't supposed to fit like that, then I'm going to have to really stick to narrow sizes. I thought it might be like switching from loose clothes to ones that fit.

Hi Ima, yes, the top of your toe should touch the toe box. In fact, I think all of your toes will touch the toe box, at least mine do.

It's just that if you are wearing a pointy-toed shoe, you don't want your foot crammed into the very pointy part of the shoe

dancing - no wonder I ended up in a size 7 then! When I was little, dad would do the "toe test" to see if the shoes I tried on were too small. (Lift your big toe, feel from the outside where it is.) So I associate that with shoes that are too small.

I "toed" myself all the way to 7s. Smile

I just can't resist a great pair of shoes. I love the style. I love the color. They're even comfortable. I might even call them practical. (It's the first shoe on the page, the pewter wedge.)

Marshall's/TJMaxx has been a treasure trove lately. A couple weeks ago, I found a darling cap-sleeve, "knot front," black & white print Maggy London dress for $40 at Marshalls (and, for $30, a similar one in brown from London Times, which is apparently a subsidiary of Maggy London). Yesterday, at TJMaxx, I finally found the perfect pair of skinny jeans by Michael Kors for $40. Not too shabby. Smile

I just bought a pair of great boots from Bakers on sale. They are black suede with a slouchy effect, and they hit just under the knee. They have a low wooden wedge heel, and an almond toe.

I also bought a denim pencil skirt from Target. It's part of the Go International collection, and I love it. It has buttons covered in denim going up the front. The one thing I would warn about for those interested in buying Go International skirts is that the denim covering on the buttons pop off easily. You can fix them with some superglue.
